Speaking of sports. Good weekend for the NFL. Four playoff games so far. Three games decided in the final two minutes. The 4th and most recent one was rather anti-climactic, being decided in the final three minutes.
Ok, if you laughed I guess it’s ok for the rest of us to laugh too. I laughed until that one kid got trucked, when I started wtf’ing.

"Greatest FA Cup shock ever?" Well, on paper*, Macclesfield's defeat this weekend of holders Crystal Palace probably was, given Macclesfield play in the National League North at the sixth level of the English pyramid. Also noteworthy is that Macclesfield are a "phoenix" club, having been formed in 2021 after the demise of Macclesfield Town. *I am not sure how vaild comparisons are to giant killing in the era when no team, however big, would have fielded a weakened team for an FA Cup game. Now that is regularly the case for Premier League teams and others.
Well deserved for an ice hockey legend. kids in Detroit either liked Steve Yzerman, Nick Lidstrom, or Sergei Fedorov. Fedorov was something else. Could be an elite attacker and could definitely be a great defenseman. Will say I had a tear in my eye watching the number raising ceremony because he was just that incredible. I’m just glad that after the circumstances left this was done. And he realized he shouldn’t have left.
Watch me destroy @Kazuma ’s childhood. https://detroithockeynow.com/2022/04/05/red-wings-daily-sergei-fedorov-pro-putin/ He’s a Putin supporter
Red Wings back in those days were tough. Mostly they had their way with my Sharks, made doubly bad by the fact that there were typically far more Wings fans in attendance at the Shark Tank than for any other visiting team, and they got loud, which could be sickening. I remember seeing quite a lot of Fedorov (too much really), he really was that good. My intro to hockey though was the playoffs, 1994. #1 seed Red Wings vs lowly #8 seed Sharks. Guess who won that series.
Not to mention Palace has a thinner squad than a lot of Prem teams, hurt even more by some injuries, IIRC.
If there are, ice hockey isn't not one. If you grow up in a city in Ontario you're just as likely to play it as someone born in the boonies of Alberta. And I reckon, if anything, its more the blue states that produce hockey players in the US.
Man, I was following Chelsea before Abramovich bought them. Some of the claims on here regarding Abramovich were hilariously dubious. And as for Fedorov, he hasn't been relevant as a hockey player in years. A lot of people really get their rocks off on being angry about something, anything. And then try to spread that. It's one of the reasons why I haven't been posting on here as much.
NBA and WNBA are two of the most liberal sports leagues in existence. Dwyane Wade has a trans daughter and has been openly supportive of her, Reggie Bullock has advocated for LGBTQ rights especially since his trans sister was murdered. Not to mention coaches like Steve Kerr and Popp speaking out against Trump. NBA's always had a more liberal bent for a long time. Bill Russell was a Civil Rights activist! Hockey on the other hand, well it's been conservative for as long as I remember. It's a sport that you have to be well off to play in so that's one instance of it being super conservative. PK Subban, a Black hockey player has voiced support for Trump. Same for Wayne Gretzky.
Looking at this again with the benefit of some hindsight, indeed the Bills got through to the next round despite blowing that game on the penultimate week of the regular season. Though I'll argue they set themselves for a tougher opponent in the Jaguars instead of the hapless Steelers. And if both Houston and Buffalo win this upcoming weekend, which is quite possible, Houston would host the AFC Championship game.
I've been a fan of Chelsea since I lived a stone throw from Stamford Bridge. Yes, it was on the Fulham side of the "border", but I used the tube stop at the stadium, so felt more aligned with Chelsea.
