If that’s the Pittsburgh Penguins, the uproar isn’t a surprise because a couple decades back they stopped playing “YMCA” because some rant-radio right wing POS pointed out the Village People was homos. Fans started booing. Team stopped playing it.
“Oh. Wait. He’s black. He would’ve been fired if he was 12-0 with a number one seed after beating Indiana 77-3 in the conference final. America is as it should be” [/MAGA]
That was kind of my reaction at first, but then read about all the other crap that he's been involved in. He is not a quality coach, and perhaps not a quality human.
Jason Collins, hero, has some bad news about his cancer https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/47266076/jason-collins-stage-4-glioblastoma
"Now are you gonna fire the whyde ppl who did worse?" -- FB commentors trying to avoid the bots which were prevalent in 2020, but not now.
My NYC merchant marine uncle got it in the mid 90s. After he was diagnosed, he walked daily and ate better and ended up living a year and a half. One last trip to Ireland to live it up kinda made him go downhill faster tho. But he needed that trip after all he went through. As bad as his memory got, he told my mom (we moved him in to take care of him & drive him to the city for treatment) that the doctors at Memorial Sloan Kettering gave him one too many radiations. Supposed to be 31 and he said he got 32. My mom told the doctors and they scoffed initially. But he insisted and sure enough when they checked, he was right. I still miss him. One of those old NYC Irish toughs who could've been in a Jimmy Cagney movie.
A friend of mine is sterile and on life long disability because the Navy f********ed up his medical records and he got way too many doses of stuff too soon together.
I don't think it mattered in the end. But he was adamant. Look you in the eye & say "they gave me too many! I know they did!" Kinda liked sticking it to those brainiac doctors. The fouling at the end of NBA games & it taking so long used to piss him off to no end. And this was when the Knicks were good.
Jason's a fighter. He's going to Singapore for experimental treatment that's not yet available in the US. F cancer https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/47266076/jason-collins-stage-4-glioblastoma
Let's not get crazy. The other stuff should get him gone, but the affair alone would have doomed HIM. Google "Bobby Petrino Auburn Louisville". Then "Bobby Petrino Motorcycle Arkansas". Moore didn't win enough for me to say it plain, tho, so I won't.
The Camp Lejune people say: "Hold my beer." Camp Lejune might be the "big thing of the current era" similar to how the Takata airbags were. That only resulted in so many phone calls and trips to the dealer that it was enough to annoy me. One of the Honda Civics was then sold, but the phone calls kept coming and it was eventually "The car has been sold. I do not know who owns the car. Take me off your list. Goodbye!"
I know.exactly how you feel. What i dont get it is wasnt there some suburban divorcee that he could have been banging rather than playing with this kind of fire. At the very least make sure she is also married and there is a chance of mutually assured destruction.
Seth Vertelney reports that the Iranian fans will be effectively banned from coming to the World Cup and the players and staff might be too. https://prosoccerwire.usatoday.com/...ry-to-iran-players-for-world-cup/87701313007/ Can you imagine if any other World Cup host did this? The entire tournament would be moved in hours. Instead Infantino is handing make-believe awards to the president. Infantino needs to be removed and imprisoned, like, yesterday. As for the World Cup, it's already giving off very strong Berlin '36 vibes. Crazy to think that Qatar and Russia were the last two hosts and the USA is humiliating itself to this degree.
I was going to post a link about this too - Infantino seems to get people within FIFA upset over his handling of 2026. I can't see the US hosting a World Cup in a post Infantino era for a while - way too risky and the US went against their word of ensuring access to fans.
On the upside, future histories of the collapse of American hegemony will have a great sports metaphor for the whole self-inflicted debacle.
I'm looking forwards to a USA-Iran match up in WC 2030. Could become brutal, both on the pitch AND in the stands.
When the US played France at the 1998 World Cup some Iranian fans were wearing t-shirts that said, "Persian Empire, 2500 years of Culture". Some US fans were talking about getting T-shirts that said "American Empire, 50 years of Pop Culture".
Lifetime? A man has an affair apart from his wife, then stalks somebody and invades their home (I'm assuming the person he had an affair with)? How is that a Lifetime movie?
