My first visit to Times Square was in the summer of 1985. My HS friend's parents were divorced and his dad lived in Brooklyn. He'd go there for most of the summer. I spent a week with him that summer. We'd do gopher work for his dad's contracting company every day until about 1 or 2pm, and then his dad would give us subway money and set us loose. Times Square was....uh...a real eye opener back then for this suburban Atlanta kid. Most fun we had though was playing pickup footy in Washington Square park most afternoons.
I was impressed with how Kamala made sure that can was well centered when she was on Colbert the other night. After sipping it, she position the can so that the label was facing the camera. If she wins, they could easily promote it as The Beer of Presidents using that clip.
For me it was 1949/50? Went with a buddy...we were 12. Sat morning Bradley Field to Laguardia on a DC3. Bronx Zoo then Times Sq till the sun came up. R/t ticket about $15 for a 1 hr flight.
I'm fully aware of Times Sqaure BITD. A drunk coworker spent half an hour trying to negotiate with an Asian lady of the night. He got shot down but when we tried to explain to him that it was a ladyboy, he vehemently denied he was trying to pick her up. Another time a buddy wanted some action when we were in the city clubbing. So we drove to the East Village, he negotiated, then drove down the block in my car (I wasnt happy about that) and when he was done his $500 gold bracelet was gone.
Jeff Pearlman, a former SI writer, does cool videos mostly on sports. But since we're talking Times Square, here's one on The Naked Cowboy https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8885qUB/
Yeah, got nothing against them but they're for people that don't like beer. Similar to how people that don't like wine drink Moscato.
I kept a couple of Duvel glasses (the traditional ones), Leffe, Maredsous, Hoegaarden, and the famous Kwak one with the stand on it. I gave away most of my others, including Chimay, Orval and the fruit beer glasses, given I no longer had a need for them being coeliac. The ones I saved are the appropriate shapes for the gluten free beers I drink (the Maredsous in particular works very well for the Belgian Greens gluten free beers, while the Duvel glass works well for some of the Glutenberg beers).
You should explore Javanese temulawak, a more potent variety of tumeric: https://www.celiac.com/celiac-disea...-celiac-disease-and-gluten-sensitivity-r4789/
I hate Moscato with a passion. Women here drink it all the time. It's worse than a port. I like the the one that served that room temperature that's going in Argentina from a French great. The Name Escapes me right now. Pinot Noir ( I will you remember some lady yelling behind me at a liquor store she wanted a peanut nor) outside of the basics of a merlot. I hate a Chardonnay actually, it's always too dry, I'll probably do a resling first.
