And unsuprisingly San Marimo are in the fourth - bottom - division. So not sure what point was trying to be made here given Europe has a boatload of excellent teams and a handful of minnows.

I would rather watch Corinthians. ;)

Packers and Eagles both look to use this final preseason matchup to get ready for the season opener.

    Oh . . .

Anybody paying attention to the Vuelta? Man this year's route is making Le Tour look like a race for amateurs.

Also, whose idea was it to schedule the NFL game in Sao Paulo at the same time as the Brazil NT is playing?
Pretty easy to avoid such a clash, and pretty clueless not to.

I didn’t watch the NFL game, but I am sure it had to be more exciting than the Brasil match.

Ever since he came back from Toledo he's been elite. There was also this catch against Seattle he made.

Last week I got to see Skubal pitch at Comerica. He went 8 innings and was quite frankly, electric. I won't be surprised if he wins the Cy Young.

I've seen a lot of great athletes in person, Skubal was one of the better ones I've seen.

I was remiss not to mention Marvelous Marv Throneberry.

In one piece written in 1963 by New York Times writer Arthur Daley, Throneberry allegedly asked manager Casey Stengel why he did not get a birthday cake, as some other members of the team had received. Stengel, who also managed Marv with the Yankees, replied, “We was afraid you’d drop it.” :p

Organizers have been digging more and more difficult climbs and it’s amazing how these guys can go 25 km/h at some 15%+ gradients. The only bad thing about Spain is that you don’t get all the top names because it’s late in the season and most stars have already put on their miles.

Any must game..."Hoot" was always my guy! If he couldn't get a shutout he'd hit a couple homers to compensate! :inlove:

Ps...only 2 guys I wouldn't want to face, him and Rhyne Duren, for different reasons!

I haven't been watching the Vuelta because I only just finished watching the TDF Femmes a couple of days ago and nothing could top the ending to that.

You want a fun read.....the history between Ump Luciano and Orioles Mgr Earl Weaver is classic. Feud started in the Minors and blossomed in the Majors. It made sense that Baltimore Orioles manager Earl Weaver and American League umpire Ron Luciano would not get along. They were essentially polar opposites in demeanor; the volatile, fiesty Weaver took the game extremely seriously, while the larger Luciano was far more jovial, a self described fan on the field. In their first meeting in 1965, Luciano ejected Weaver from all four games of the series, including once while exchanging lineup cards. A beautiful hatred was born.

Bream, a former Pirate, lived in the north suburbs of Pittsburgh at the time. He still might.

Credit to the Pirates fans that no one vandalized (or torched) his house.

Right. But it’s been an amazing Vuelta even without them. The climatic difference between the Andalusian stages ( with 90 or 100 degree days) and some of the northern stages (with many of those in Asturias resembling a wet and cold English summer) has been tremendous.
