  4. So, the epic show down was a let down.
Dunno what happened, but after about 250 meters I was thinking "what's Femke doing?", because her stride seemed not as fluid as usual.
However Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone was epic. Femke would have to improve her 50.95 time by a blistering 0.62 seconds to win, which would have been an epic performance.
Wonder if Femke took too much on her plate by running in multiple disciplines.

The marathon swim happened in the Seine after all. The women’s gold medalist said she intentionally drank a gulp or two.

    Let’s see how they fare.

Canada would beat the US because they get to use 12 men!

Yeah, it really seemed like Bol was not running her normal race. But, if you want to beat the best, sometimes you have to adjust. It was just that SML ran (another) epic race. And on the replay, it was obvious to me that she kicked into another gear in the last 150m, immediately after landing after the 7th hurdle

Also, on the replay, I noticed this:
    upload_2024-8-9_10-23-17.png

The look on Cockrell's and Bol's faces tell me who is going to be 2nd and 3rd. Bol just looks drained.

    Yeah, that could be.

Taurisi had no business being on that team. She should have retired with Bird.

Letsile Tebogo and the other 400m runners in the 4x400 relay for Botswana are one of the main stories of the games for me. Tebogo was 6th in the 100m, won the 200m, and today in the 4x400 heat he and the other Botswanan runners all went sub-45. I am rooting for them.

Side note: I have a sweet Botswana soccer jersey, from 2019 when Umbro really leaned into the giraffe motif.
