Agree their TDF coverage is sensational. Truly engrossing.
Did you guys see that German cyclist doing pit stop in Montmartre, Paris yesterday? It happened at this cafe made popular in the movie " Amelie". Pretty funny.

The announcers trying to keep Vos and Vas straight as they lead the women's road race is kind of funny to hear.

Olympics are half over and I just discovered the multiview on Peacock. Cycling, basketball, beach volleyball and some kind of sailing all on the screen and you can pick which one you listen to.

I'm more of a "Fück, the olympics are only half over?!?" kind of guy.

It's tough being a sports fan right now. Last month, we had the Euros, the Copa, and the TDF all happening simultaneously. This month we have badminton and the League Cup.

They say there's no accounting for taste but has anybody actually tried it?

Me and the fellow Red Bulls fans have refused to watch the games or highlights. We have boycotted the Money Grab Cup.

I lettered in badminton in high school, coached for awhile, won a tournament in college, and love it dearly. Started accidentally; I started playing soccer as a h.s. frosh in '81, and fell head over heels for the sport. It was a winter sport and I wanted to play a spring sport too, but most particularly wanted to continue training for soccer year round at the same time. Baseball was in the blood - dad and grand dad had both been drafted by the MLB - but the baseball coach was quite dismissive of the idea of me training for soccer at the same time. Same story for track and field, tennis, golf, and swimming, but the badminton coach said I could do my cardio on the soccer field, using either the singles court time or the double court time. And just like that, I took up badminton.

What a cool sport. Loads of reasons why; start with this comparison of how fast projectiles in different sports move at https://olympic.ca/2014/09/11/shuttlecock-and-balls-the-fastest-moving-objects-in-sport/.

To the "unknowing", since she is not from a traditional gymnastic country/area, she might have been seen as an anomaly, or maybe having a one-off tournament. But she was silver in Tokyo, and nearly gold here. All appearances, she is second best, and pushing Biles at to be the current best.

    * - I use "unknowing" for lack of a better term. It really means the disbelievers, that somebody from Brasil can't really be that good.

And oh, damn, Carolina Marin of Spain - gold medalist in Rio - just went down leading the women's semifinal badminton match. She was playing great. She's had her knee repaired twice previously and shouted "oh no" when she landed/crumpled to the court.

EDIT: this happened several hours ago but I avoided results to watch her play.

I need to go back to this and say that SAFP is the GOAT of female sprinting. It should have been initially included.

Not sure if this is more a sign of Colombia's improvement, or if Spain where overconfident/not good enough, but man, oh, man (or women, oh, woman), were Colombia unlucky. And so exciting to see them rising to the occasion.

She spent so long reeling in the leaders that when she just blew on past them with 3 km left, it was amazing. No one even tried to go with her.

The three riders coming across almost simultaneously for silver and bronze was cool too.
