Apparently the money and politics of Cameroon and the Cameroon FA kind of shuned Mbappe Sr. When he initially reached out about his son until France had taken notice and by then he had told his son forget Cameroon as they didn't want you til you were somebody.
But that doesn't explain his attack on South American football. Also, I think it's possible for someone to feel that he's in the best possible position without taking shots at the positions he's not in. Just the possibility that you might lose should be enough to make you not say things you'll have to hear repeated back to you for the rest of your career. Wilfrid is old enough to remember when France was not as welcoming of its Black talent, but he did not impress that on his son, or it didn't take. I'm not saying you don't play, but you don't do all this cheerleading and trashtalking Kylian did for a nation where you are not as welcome as the next man to do something other than play football. The people who'd agree with him about European superiority don't think he's European. They just let him play because he's good.
Thanks for retraumatizing me with this reenactment of the 2016 national championship game…if that 3 pointer had been a miraculous double pump.
I think it’s more than a bit sad that one racist poster has diverted this thread into talking about the sporting characteristics and abilities of various races. This is how Nazis categorized the world. The Nazi side is almost invariably the wrong side to be on.
I've been thinking about this a lot lately. In the olden days, leftists would create thousands of pamphlets, books, and conventions discussing their great debates about whether and how to view the class-based world through a lens of dialecticism and scientific inevitability and whatnot. These debates would shatter the left into tiny balkanized groups. The Mensheviks and the Bolsheviks agreed on 99.999% of their ideas and then murdered each other over the .001% Meanwhile, the Nazis simply ignored it all and just said, "Nope, it's all about race, a thing that scientists say doesn't exist and that we basically just made up right now." By focusing all of our energies on race (and sexuality, and gender expression, and ability, and a million other discreet and divisive things), the modern left has effectively adopted the Nazi view and abandoned the class-based lens to view the world which was the foundation of nearly all 20th century leftism.

I had the feeling that he was faking as soon as I saw the replay of him initiating the contact with the fan. And people say soccer is lame with all its diving. Still though... storming the court is dumb.
But pitch invasions are an illustration of the superiority of soccer when it comes to evoking passion.
