I will say, he seemed to have changed his life when he had kid(s). I remember when he first blew up and moved into a big house in Beverly Hills or Bel Air or someplace like that, he would host huge parties that pissed off his neighbors.
Drones!!! This time it is Canada. https://www.bbc.com/sport/olympics/articles/c1vdye9yv20o Canada national team officials have used drones prior to the Paris Olympics and their Tokyo 2020 women's gold medal could be tarnished, officials said on Friday. The developments emerged after Bev Priestman was removed as Olympics head coach for Canada's women's team, following the flying of a drone over New Zealand's training session on Monday.

If you aren't all rooting for our 3 athletes we're boycotting the next Olympics and just sending a frigate bird. https://t.co/nc5KRSjsXN— Republic of Kiribati (@KiribatiGov) July 26, 2024
Honestly, beyond the spectacular aspect of the ceremony, I was blown away by the diversity and inclusion. You had drag queens, queers, a lot of black artists and people of color, nude, not to mention Marie Antoinette holding her severed head. To a point that the far right in France is going apeshit this morning and not just them. Elon Musk called some of the event “degenerate “. If the far right hate something, it must be good and it was. From a French paper this morning: Marechal is a far right congresswoman and Marine Le Pen niece. “De quoi faire jaser l’extrême droite sur les réseaux sociaux. Marion Maréchal la première, qui a du mal à «apprécier les rares tableaux réussis entre les Marie-Antoinette décapitées, le trouple qui s’embrasse, des drag-queens, l’humiliation de la Garde républicaine obligée de danser sur du Aya Nakamura». Sur X, la nièce de Marine Le Pen s’épanche sur une «propagande woke aussi grossière».
Right wing Twitter is losing their shit over the drag singers and what they claim was them mocking the last super. I think they believe the painting was done at the time of Jesus and not by some Italian painter hundreds of years later.
Doesn't matter that it was painted by some Italian painter hundreds of years later. That looked intentional and was in pretty bad taste.
What…. ? Bad taste? Are you serious? To use Riggo immortal words, “ Lighten up, Sandy Baby“. That was a beautiful show,
OMG, it was awful. How incredibly tacky. Now, looking only at that tableau, my mind wouldn't have jumped to Last Supper without being so cued. I never watch the side show ceremonies surrounding sporting events -- the Super Bowl halftime show especially -- but this is a new level of classless crassness.
The show itself is a question of taste. Interesting concept, but not my preference. That scene itself was in bad taste and certainly on purpose by whoever directed the show. And I am not even particularly religious. But your comment is noted. I will reply the same way next time you're bothered by some subject that is touchy to you. I am sure there are plenty.
Tell me you don’t understand art without telling me you don’t understand art. I am glad France is a secular country and not a theocracy. Funny enough that is the same complaint the far right is making here and in the States well. I see the Daily Wire, Harrison Butler and other whackjobs are up in arms as well. Go figure.
It's a matter of... taste. I thought it was pretty nice and rather hilarious, as most people in France I bet (for whom the notion of 'blasphema' -if such a thing exists- is irrelevant).
A broken clock is right twice a day. I know enough about art to know that that wasn't good art. I'm glad France ain't a theocracy as well, but it seems a bit of a leap to tar anyone who found that display tasteless as a budding Christian nationalist.
Eh, not really my cup of tea either but I'm not that bothered. Impressionism shocked people in its day. Art that a lot of people find shocking is probably as "French" as anything in the opening ceremonies.
Whatever dude…this is just an opinion, not based on anything related to art, except that some are offended because their Christian sensibilities. SMFH
It's great that they are a secular country. As it should be. But then why refer to religion at all ? What's the point ? If this is about respecting everyone, why the disrespect ? Oh ... because it's "art". Yes, France is known for its art, but this is completely unnecessary. Whatever happened to "I get to say what's offensive to me" ? I guess I can just respond with ... "Lighten up, Sandy Baby" ... I don't care that I can have certain opinions that may be the same as someone on the right. This is just a typical cheap way of just shutting down arguments. The fact that you use that to somehow try to define me is just absolutely pathetic.
If I find myself on the same side of a bunch of far right conspiracists, I would question my judgement as well. Beyond that, dude you can say whatever you want, there is nothing disrespectful about that except in the narrow minds of some. As someone mentioned before, we are talking about a scene described in ********ing painting by Da Vinci, hundred years later, that may or may not have any relation to reality (more likely no relation). If you want to be offended over that, by all means then.
I will remember this when bringing up context to something you find disrespectful and offensive. I will bring up your narrow mind of thinking. Again, to bring up right wing conspiracists is a cheap way to discredit an argument. One can be religious, not a far right nut, and still be offended (and believe that this was done to push buttons). This is what being narrow minded looks like. Thinking that there is only 2 boxes to check.
This one's less disrespectful ? Thanksfully, artists don't give a sh!t about offending people or not.
What is the intent of the cartoon ? Is it to provoke ? What is the context ? And what is the stage ? Is it out of place ?
There is no inherent 'intent'... The way you receive it depends entirely on... you. You may or may not find it funny. You may or may not find it offensive... It’s none of the artist’s business.
My wife has pointed out that she thinks the Olympics and NBC have been exploiting black talent a bit for these Olympics. All to try and create the same effect Leslie Jones created organically.
