Indoor soccer. "Wallball" as some would have it.

A blue card is similar to a misconduct in hockey - the offender goes to the box for two minutes.

And it depends on the facility, but often they use the two-referee system of control. (FIFA experimented with it in England a year or two ago, but nobody liked it so it was scrapped). Basically there are two referees, both of whom have a whistle and control their half of the field from opposite sideline, stationed rather like linesmen.

However, since there is no offside, the positioning is a little different.

It's just a winter pastime in the colder climes. There's a professional league, but it's not terribly popular.

There you have it. Answers to all your questions - except the "50-50 head ball" which (although it does seem rather oddly put) I'm betting doesn't really need any explanation.

    You're welcome.

    thanks Bill,

i suppose the indoor footy would explain things all right. you'd think they'd give the ball on the floor though. No need for nasty fifty-fifty head ball action then

Blue cards are issued in indoor soccer for a foul. The player has to sit out two minutes in the penalty box.
