From the people who brought you the "Strike Force:" presenting the "Soccer Nation!" http://www.mlsnet.com/content/03/mls0404nsn.html Hee hee! Where can I get one of those posters?
Kinda a small image, but here are the players from left to right for people that might have trouble seeing them. Josh Wolff, Ryan Suarez, Pablo Mastroeni, Carlos Ruiz, Landon Donovan, Taylor Twellman, Kyle Martino, Demarcus Beasley, Bobby Convey
Very slick, indeed. Great balance and variety of images in that spot, and one which should inspire more passion in the league's product.
I believe you left out one player ... nine names, but 10 guys in the pictures. who's missing? looks like clint mathis ... but hard to tell
And here's a direct link to the 60-second spot being lauded by Buff and myself... http://www.mlsnet.com/special/events/mn033103kfnsn/nsn60.mpg
Pretty solid. The poster is interesting and I hope it appeals to the younger crowd. The commercial spot is pretty nicely done...I hope there are a few more to follow before the year is up.
Stylin' Very, very slick commercial. Beats the hell out of "Strike Force". Also glad to see they're having more than just the American players as spokesmen. I wish they had more Fish in the commercial. And the one-large-hoop look works for DMB
Younger, older... everyone, hopefully. Regardless of the results of whatever demographic studies are done, with regard to that poster, I think I found my new laptop wallpaper for the start of the season, if it fits...
It fits, I tried just for kicks, slightly grainy, but use the larger of the two and its pretty good. When I look at that poster I don't see it appealing as much to the over 21 crowd as much as the youths of America. It's not bad, don't get me wrong, but I just see it as more of a under 15 kind of illusrated look.
The commercial definitely was slick, but the shot that really stood out (and practically gave me goosebumps) was landon's goal near the end and the shot of the packed house reacting. Just awesome!
Interesting that it's Martino instead of McBride. Assuming this was due to the Everton situation being around the same time the spot was finished.
Poster Here's a link to the poster in larger version: http://www.mlsnet.com/content/03/images/nsn0000poster_lg.jpg Good work, with that final "IT'S YOUR GAME" recalling some other sport's spots. I tried but it doesn't fit to my 1024x768 desktop: I hope they will do many versions of it to fit to different desktop sizes. Don't you hope so? Have fun guys!!!
I believe MLS is trying to emphasize the younger impact players, the under 30 set. Hence, Kyle instead of McBride. Just a theory.
Personally, I think at least the poster is butt ugly. Hey, to each their own. But that commercial is on the right track. It's a long way from the empty stadiums of "have you seen me" to this sucker. Would be nice with fewer "stare at the players and listen to them talk" shots, and more action. But damn, does that new Fire kit look GOOOOOD
