It's a pretty brilliant film that came out quite some time ago in England. It's even a joy to watch as an Indian...unlike that "The Guru" crap Hollywood put out last month.
I saw an advance screening of it here in Seattle Thursday night. Let me state this as clearly as I can: It's a great movie. Go see it. Soccer is central to the plot, but the best sports movies aren't about the game -- they're about the people. And as a culture/generational clash movie, it works brilliantly with drama and humor mixed in. Not to mention that the two female leads meet and exceed all minimum requirements for cute. Plus, as a bonus, the offside rule is actually explained.
I've seen it and I'm definitely going to see it again when it comes near here. A friend of mine, who does reviews for a show shown on campus (and is extremely hard to impress) said that he would most likely give it an A- on his show. He liked it and we're planning a trip as a floor to see it!
It's a rubbish film. Low budget mainly around the girl's friends dilema of trying to find himself a gay lover. Chick flick, women only, unless you are gay of course (which there's nothing wrong with).
Women's soccer is central. There is a difference. This is hardly the World War II soccer film "Victory"
Well, if the USSF had a clue, the US would be lifting it's 3rd or 4th World Cup with Sylvester Stallone in goal....
You obviously didn't watch the movie, then, because you couldn't be more wrong. Well, maybe if you had said it starred Bruce Willis and spaceships, you'd be more wrong. But you're wrong, regardless.
I was forced into watching it on video thanks to my girlfirend (who also thought it was rubbish ) Thanks for telling me I'm wrong. But I'm not a girly, so I can understand why you may like it as it's a chick flick, and ladies like you will like it (which is fine.)
Well, here's hoping you didn't drive home that night, because you can't have been sober and remembered the plot so inaccurately.
the best footy movie in years by far is: Mike Bassett England Manager... absolutely hilarious...the ending is classic.. poetic justice.... Its only on PAL DVD...if you have one that plays both its available on amazon.uk.. Cantona----------
