Lately? Maybe it's not the insole but the shoe itself. Many players, especially younger ones pick a shoe because others on their team wear iti, t's cool looking, or because some famous player wears it. You should choose a shoe that fits your foot AND fits the surface you are playing or training.

This means NOT wearing studded (6 removable cleats) boots on hard dry ground. It could mean wearing a different brand as not all brands are made on the same last (form or mold used during manufacturing)

If you are seeing a podiatrist, take your soccer shoes in to his office on the next visit. I've seen orthopedic inserts that work great in street shoes but in soccer shoes they cause problems.

Off the shelf innersoles probably will not do you much good if you are seeing a doctor about the problem.

Look in to the superfeet bule insole they are made for soccer shoes and built on a lower profile so your feet don't feel as packed in to your shoes, the store I work at sells them, I bought a pair and the only time I don't wear them now is when I am wearing my running shoes simce they are so padded as it is.

When Figo changed his shoes in the Euro2004 he switched his Yellow insoles into the new boots.

Look into the Sof Sole insoles as well, they have a red one that is the Arch Plus that helps provide quite a bit of support as well as cusioning. I don't have bad arches, but I have had both anterior cruciate ligaments reconstructed and these insoles are invaluable to me when it comes to playing in comfort.

Insole selection is important. Many people think that the insole needs to be soft which is incorrect. The insole just needs to have great arch support. That is the only thing that matters and will help - the arch support. I used to have the same condition and then I started using Powerstep inserts. All the pain went away. I reccomend them over almost anything else. They are only about $25 and make a world of difference. Here is the Powerstep website - http://www.powersteps.com/

I have got flat feet to and my doctor ordered me a pair of Orthodics. There like there blue plastic insoles. They laser scanned my feet and i got these inserts that were like perfectly fitted to my foot except for the higher arch, they at really durable and I wear them in my day shoes as well as my soccer shoes. Works for everything....but on the down side they are expensive. I think we paid like $250 for the pair. But i have gone through 2 pairs in 5 years.
