Who started these things anyway? Why do you have to hear these awful plastic instruments at EVERY match? You don't find them brought to any other sporting events, only soccer matches in the US. They need to go.

    what do you think?

It's like sitting in a god damned traffic jam for 90 minutes. Can't anyone at USSF see that?!?!?

Really? Is that why they sell them at Colorado Avalanche games?

You couldn't take those horns away fast enough, they are completely annoying. Same goes with the constant beating of the drums.

I hate the horns.. They are annoying as hell and do nothing for the game except turn away possible fans...

Everytime I watch a match and try to expose the game to a "borderline soccer fan" in attempt to convert them to the beautiful game, they ALWAYS say "what the hell is up with that noise in the background.. It is so annoying"

Love the horns and they're hardly an American phenomena.

Pretty much anything that makes noise at a soccer game in the US is okay by me -- except for that British guy two rows back who's going on to his American girlfriend about how crap everything is.

    (P.S. Landon's cool.)

I can't wait for my trip to England so I can sit and talk (loudly) about how awful all their goalkeepers are and what they need to learn from the yanks to improve. Maybe I won't. :)

Keep the horns until the crowds are lively enough to drown them out. They sound better than the crickets chirping that you'd hear otherwise.

Even Welsh rugby fans are in an uproar over the things. :)

    Example:

WOT A PAIN THEY ARE! A KID WAS SITTING BEHIND ME
IN THE FIJI GAME AND ALL HE DID WAS BLOW THEM
BLOODY HORNS. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE SURELY.
SINGING AND SHOUTING IS THE TRADITIONAL WAY TO
SUPPORT YOUR COUNTRY NOT BLOW THEM BASTARD
    HORNS!!!! DO SOMETHING PLEASEEEEEEEEE

Come to think of it, it's a good thing my Spanish stinks, 'cause half the Hispanic fans at MLS games probably sound like Noberto Longo.

    Back when his heart pumped.

    i think horns are great.

see.. you threaten to play yours constantly if your section doesn't chant with you (and chant well) two or three times a half.

great way to get the sit back and talk crowd to do their part. the more annoying your little horn song is the more you can leverage it against the people around you.

I can't wait until Germany 06 when all of the Americans bring horns to the game and start blowing them like crazy. This time, we should have a lot more fans than we did last time.

I had one of those at college that I brought to basketball games, and the R.A. peeked in my window and wrote me up because she thought it was a beer bong.

I must be strange. I like them.

One thing for sure: the Hispanics (generally) love them.
