Lucky Bar, which is on Connecticut Ave., just below Dupont Circle. Capitol Lounge, which is on Pennsylvania Ave. in the Capitol Hill neighborhood. More info on those two bars (including tv schedules) is at: www.soccer-nation.com Summers in the Courthouse area of Arlington was recently voted "Best Soccer Bar in the U.S." in some survey or another. They show just about every match you can think of. Their website is: www.summers-restaurant.com There's also Flanagan's on Old Georgetown Rd. in Bethesda (current home of the DC Celtic Supporters Club). See the link to the Celtic Supporters Club on the Soccer Nation website. Also, there is The Exchange, which is in downtown DC. I think it's on G St. NW b/t 17th and 18th.
Re: Re: Soccer friendly bars Sadly, it is no longer possible to smell what the Rock is cooking, as it has ceased to be.
Those bars noted are the best, but I think there's one more in DC. I've never been to it but it's always advertising in that Sports rag that they have at Summers. Is it called "Pardo's" or something maybe? Unfortunately, I don't think any bars in the area carry all the MLS games, but those listed--particularly Summer's--seem to show the most. Also, Summer's shows a lot of English Premiership, Serie A and the Glasgow Rangers, Real Madrid, Barcelona and some La Liga games. They also show the typical sports bar football, basketball, hockey, etc. -Digital
Soccer Bars Thanks for the suggestions. I'm from Northern California, so I am hoping to find some places that will show the Earthquakes games. Galen
Re: Re: Soccer friendly bars Are you perhaps thinking of Fado's on 7th just north of the MCI Center? I'm not sure of their MLS schedule, but I know they do show some matches.
Re: Soccer Bars Err, in that case i cant think of any pubs. Most places will show DC matches because, well, we tend to show up in hordes.
Re: Re: Re: Soccer friendly bars Fado does show some matches. Might also be thinking of Guapo's (on upper Wisconsin Ave., near AU), though I'm not sure that place even exists anymore.
Fado shows English matches on Saturdays and Sundays (including the cup) if they don't conflict with the rugger, and most English and Irish internationals. Best of all, there's no cover or "minimum" for live league matches.
WE'll be showing as many as we can here at The Exchange. Thanks to everyone who came out for the USA game on Saturday - what a great crowd! Thanks Vicky for the beer -
A helpful site if you want to travel to NYC to catch the Metros playing away at San Jose. A little too far to catch a mid-week game after work... Welcome to the Boards, Pelforth, and thanks for the info. The BSers here had a post-season happy hour at Fados last year. Many sorrows were lost at sea. dadman
