The more I think about this statistic the less I think of it. 1. It is a "share of team total" graph. It is not the actual number of progressions. Just the percent of the progressions for that team for that player. So if LA Galaxy were lumping the ball forward everytime except for the 5 times Puig passed or carried it, then he would have a high value on the chart. Yet they and he might be horrible at ball progression. So I'm not sure what good it does to measure the percentage of overall progressions by any one individual player. 2. Another issue is that there is no real measure here of the quality of the progression. For example if you carry the ball forward a lot but run it into traps and turn the ball over, you show up high on this chart. That ain't no good. If your so dangerous with your ball progression that other teams key on you, and it opens up space for your teammates then they show up on here more than you. Yea -- not sure at that this chart says anything valuable.

ive read this before and it’s the biggest pile of poop that ive ever read. I don’t even know where to start, so I won’t. it wasn’t interesting to see that an ex-Dynamo front office dude was involved with this org.
I hope he was renumerated greatly, always liked him especially after he got me tickets for Craven Cottage.
https://bsky.app/profile/jtannenwald.bsky.social/post/3lcimg7ats22l The link is to a BlueSky post about an LA Times article on the LA Galaxy turn around coming from last year's fan protest getting the attention of AEG. Just feels kind of relevant to our moribund club and the partial renaissance HDFC has seen since Segal took over. I remain unconvinced that Segal is actually serious, but I'm also not convinced he is insincere. I just think the jury is out. I fear that is really all they actually want but I acknowledge it as fear. Not a rational conclusion from evidence.
Knowing our market like we all do, how much potential growth is still left on the table as we approach Season 20, our FO have a long way to go to cultivate what our market should be all things considered with how far professional soccer has come in the U.S.
Pretty good summary of information out there about 2025 and forward MLS competitions/structures/schedules: https://www.hudsonriverblue.com/the-end-of-leagues-cup/
What really gives me pause is the non-playing staff component of the front office. I thought this side was really poor prior to Segal. I'd argue it's gotten even worse. O'Neil's only clear strength is always having a fall guy to shift blame to, there continues to be an inability to understand serious soccer fans and to jerk around season ticket holders, which led me to drop my tickets after this past season. I see minimal evidence of any real competence anywhere on the business side tbh, it just looks like "spend as little of our own money as possible".
From that article: Exhibit B: A potential change to Leagues Cup was covered a few weeks ago in these pages by Andrew Leigh, who reported on the rumors that Major League Soccer might revamp the calendar next year and could start playing league games on a fall-to-summer timetable like in much of Europe. "Speaking of Leagues Cup, the fate of that controversial new tournament seems unclear as it relates to this proposed schedule overhaul," Leigh wrote. "Henry Bushnell of Yahoo Sports mentions the possibility of playing the tournament in January when, in this new reality, both MLS and Mexico's Liga MX would have openings in the calendar between the halves of their domestic seasons." Exhibit C: Finally, there is the specter of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup, which will be staged in the United States from June 15 to July 13. That would place it just ahead of when Leagues Cup was held in 2024 (July 27 to August 25) and 2023 (July 21 to August 19). Four weeks of the FIFA Club World Cup, featuring Chelsea, Manchester City, Inter Milan, Boca Juniors, River Plate, and Flamengo, followed by four weeks of Leagues Cup, featuring América, Atlas, and Atlanta United? It's hard to imagine that this part of the world has an appetite for that much consecutive tournament soccer.
sounds like they laid off or cut chunks of the FO out for 2025: https://www.reddit.com/r/dynamo/comments/1h6462b/has_there_been_a_semimass_layoff_at_dynamo/
ESPN reports Leagues Cup to be only 18 MLS teams against all 18 LMx teams. https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/42779123/leagues-cup-continue-2025-scheduling-conflicts
From the comments section: 18 front office people were laid off and told due to revenue related reasons. Several higher up positions and that those were not going to be positions they would rehire for. Several were some of the last veteran employees that were there before Segal/Oneill era and probably just cleaning out to hire in their own.
Our newest owner (Tim Howard) and Landon Donovan have a new podcast going. Pretty standard issue stuff for two guys involved in TV commentary. Its a good listen. This week Stu Holden joins as guest. At this 10:05 moment of the podcast Holden asks about whether commercial success comes from winning or having big stars. LD refers to a statement Tim Howard made last week, where TH said the path to success is getting a USA national team star and a Mexico national team star playing together was the best way forward. LD then, and I think he is a bit kidding/friendly ribbing of TH says (paraphrasing): (Tim) is getting his Houston Dynamo owners to spend a lot more money after this." TH chuckles. LD then refers back to the glory years of the Houston Dynamo and says it was because the entire team was a bunch of guys who genuinely cared about the club and to Houston. Howard says that the American soccer fan no longer just wants to see stars -- they want to win. There are some more comments about Houston. The entire discussion is worth a listen: For some reason, I can't post a link to the podcast but the above link will take you to it at the one point.
Was this before or after Tim Howard trashed on Pulisic for doing the Trump dance celebration and then calling Trump racist?
Partial club owner crapping on the president-elect not probably a smart thing for business for a club close to the bottom of the league in attendance.
You did not listen to any of it did you? Just bleating like a brainless sheep your MAGA echo chamber noises. For the record, as someone who has actually watched all of this, Howard and Donovan defend Pulisic doing the dance and only say Pulisic should not have verbally backed away from it -- saying "oh, its not political." TH and LD's view is "Do it if you want, but own it. Don't do it then mealy mouth away from it. Acting like you don't know what it relates to is the bad look." I'm of the who the hell cares camp? Whatever.
I thought the libs were the snowflakes? Anyway, it’s Trumps country. I really don’t think any of his supporters who happen to support the Dynamo would actually base ticket purchasing off of this. I do agree with the guys here. Pulisic should wear the maga hat. He won’t be cancelled
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...c-Nick-Bosa-Jon-Jones-Donald-Trump-dance.html Howard: "I don't care that Trump frequently claims he is ‘the least racist person in the world’ or won the votes of more Black voters in November’s election than before. His actions over the decades are clear." Also, Segal and Dynamo FO were all about the "tragedy" when Texas banned abortion except in emergency situations after the SC kicked it to the states. Maybe Howard should own that too!
Dynamo/Dash have grown increasing liberal only to watch the attendance continue to drop. It doesn't help to be political at all. Dash is a dumpster inferno at this point. Tim Howard probably owns like 1% of the club. It doesn't help unless they think that leaning in to some additional social justice cause is going to attract new fans - that's really worked for the Dash LOL
https://bsky.app/profile/tombogert.bsky.social/post/3lczt44ijvs2n Red Bull Arena is now Sports Illustrated Statium, for some reason.
IF i'm following along correctly, which is a big IF: The Brand Name "Sports Illustrated" is now owned by a Private Equity firm. They license the name out to businesses, one being a now very slimmed down Magazine/Website publishing mainly AI written articles with a few underpaid journalists, and a SwimSuit photo shoot each year. Another licensee is a ticket sales company like SeatGreek or TicketDisaster, err Master. The new naming rights sponsor of the Stadium is that ticketing company. Sports Illustrated Tickets (www.sitickets.com) will be the official ticketing partner for SI Stadium. SI Tickets, according to their propaganda, "features a transparent pricing model with zero ($0) transaction fees." Their big claim to fame is using block chain technology to "elevate fan engagement by transforming event tickets into dynamic digital assets, offering exclusive perks, personalized content and more, creating a truly next-generation event experience." It seems there is also an event hospitality business using the name as well: "Club SI." They do premium hospitality event things at events like F1 races for the genetically superior members of our species.
