Obviously there are soccer clubs for sale but I am wondering if anyone knows which clubs are currently up for sale. I am more specifically looking at Eastern Europe such as Romania etc. Is anyone aware of 1st or 2nd league teams for sale in this region? How much do they cost? What is the procedure when buying a club? I have read many articles where people buy professional soccer clubs for literally $1 or less. I dont understand how or why people would sell it for so cheap... I also see that many owners in debt but I also dont see how. If they were in debt, why are they still doing it? Not every owner is rich like Abramovic. Any information regarding this topic would be appreciated, thanks.
I know absolutely nothing about Eastern Europe, but you may want to look at Football TRADE publications that specialize in the business aspects of the sport. http://www.sportbusiness.com http://www.soccerinvestor.com/ http://www.soccerex.com/ Deloitte consulting has a division that specializes in football teams, business models, and consulting. They may be worth a look. Also, "troubled companies" reports often have listings about teams. I know in some countries teams collaspe into bankruptcy and become administered by local city councils- which are looking for qualified buyers. About your $1 question; you have to realize the debts many of these teams have irresponsibly racked up over the years. I would imagine a purchaser would be liable for them! A couple years ago Messina in Sicily, just out of Serie A was up for sale at like $200,000 or something. Good luck with this!
How much money do you have to spend on this investment? I know of a few clubs in Scotland that are for sale, plus I have heard of a few in Spain. Of course the Spanish want €40 million or so. The Scots are probably under $10 million.
Argentina clubs aren't for sale and never will be, we don't sell passion for money like Europeans, stick your money up your *****

Hi guys, I know a club in Central Europe, which is for sale currently. Nevertheless, I have a question - if the owners are having trouble to sell it, arent there maybe some sport agencies which could actually help to find a buyer or which specialize in this kind of business?
Ilja Kaenzig used to have Boutique Football, but closed that when he went to Young Boys. I'm sure others are trying. As for this club, location, location, location --- same as real estate.
Anybody know the costs of running a low division club? Something like the Israeli/Ukrainian 3rd division or even lower ?
In the US, the USL estimates a USL PRO (3rd division) team costs $2-3 million per year to operate while a PDL (regional amateur) team costs $100,000-200,000 per year to operate. Initial start-up costs are several million for a pro team and several hundred thousand for an amateur team. I would imagine that a 3rd division team in a smaller country would cost somewhere between those two.
Howler published this article about Parma's second collapse into bankruptcy. THe article was re-published in the Guardian. It's a very long article, but Parma sold twice for $1.00 and currently has no owner. http://www.theguardian.com/football...-the-football-club-milked-for-all-their-worth
Hi guys, I know a club in Georgia (Europe) is for sale. contact me if you are interested in mail :buadze.b@gmail.com . i will give you details
Easy BarraUru, every nation has passion for it's own soccer, and ownership has very little bearing these days. Honestly though, your NATIONAL team has mostly non-argentine sponsors, so who is for sale? I do however, get tired of the size and dominance of advertising in soccer. But, it is business now.
