The US women play at noon on Tuesday. The game will be live on USA Network and Peacock. ...previously posted in wrong thread.
That was a banger by Rodman. I admit that I didn't care one lick for this team, watched the second half, aet, and fell in love with this new group. And since we have to finish the post with an obligatory Olympic Penis Problem -- O-P-P
Olympics boxing: The misleading controversy over the Imane Khelif-Angela Carini match, explained - Vox An Olympic women’s boxing match — and misinformation about one of the athletes involved — is now being used by conservatives to promote their anti-trans agenda. That reaction has since spawned scrutiny of Khelif, who was assigned female at birth and identifies as a woman. False claims that she is a trans person or that she is a man pretending to be a woman quickly spread thanks to reports she was disqualified from a 2023 International Boxing Association event and the resurfacing of comments by the president of that organization suggesting that her elimination was because she failed a hormone test. As Vox’s Alex Abad-Santos has explained, there aren’t any transgender athletes at the Olympics this year who are competing outside of the sex they were assigned at birth, though IOC rules don’t bar their inclusion so long as they meet certain eligibility criteria. “There has been some confusion that somehow it’s a man fighting a woman,” International Olympic Committee (IOC) spokesperson Mark Adams told reporters. “The question you have to ask yourself is, are these athletes women? The answer is yes.”
If we're going to insist that we need to give genetic tests to Olympic athletes, can someone take a look at Katie Ledecky? I'm pretty sure one of her parents had to be a dolphin. That girl's flat out amazing. She became the first woman to win gold in the same event four times by winning the 800M tonight. That after winning the 1500M in such dominating fashion that the next closest swimmers were barely on the screen when she hit the wall. 14 medals.
Again with the "being used by conservatives" shtick. Is there anything you can't twist into a political attack The fact that this is an issue of debate literally everywhere on Earth doesn't seem to register with you. You're a prime example of exactly what's wrong with this country.
If anyone wants to get a thrill, go find a clip of Alex "Spiff" Sedrick scoring in the dying seconds, running literally the entire length of the pitch to steal the bronze for USA Rugby. First American medal in Rugby 7's since 1924. The announcer loses his shit. It's great, and the run is ridiculous.
This isn't the first time. Hiroki Ogita did it in 2016 -- I had forgotten all about the bunker subtitled videos. There are only two sports where competitors would wish for a smaller manhood -- pole vault and women's boxing.
I was quoting the article. If you don’t like it, tough. But it’s telling that some people are so desperate to bitch about trans athletes that they literally made up one that doesn’t exist so they could do so.
So, like, the new far left UK Culture Minister? Apparently Labour is infested with Republicans. Someone should tell Starmer.
It was the "upset of a lifetime" in women's road cycling as American Kristen Faulkner surged ahead of the pack to secure gold at the end of the race.Watch the 2024 Paris Olympics on NBC and streaming on Peacock. https://t.co/sZYDe4fXPK pic.twitter.com/i75dU2A431— NBC News (@NBCNews) August 4, 2024 That's it. There's gotta be an Olympic game I can take up now. When does bowling become part of this?
Dumb question time: The UK is a nation. Great Britain is an island. Why is their olympic team “Great Britain”? Does it have to do with decades-old disputes over Northern Ireland and an IOC decision? And if you’re an athlete from Northern Island, do you compete for Great Britain or for “Ireland”? (Aren’t Ireland’s olympic teams called “Ireland” and not “Republic of Ireland”?)
