A good article by Brian Lewis of the New York Post. Soccer’s growth in US measured in the time between World Cups http://nypost.com/2014/07/14/soccers-growth-in-us-measured-in-the-time-between-world-cups/
Very intelligent analysis of soccer in the US. As pointed out the MLS is still and infant compared to the other big 4 pro sports leagues. promoting the MLS stars is what will need to grow. You see the National team perform great on the World stage. Problem is that many do not play in the MLS. That however has just started to change a bit with Dempsey and Bradely both now in the MLS. Landon Donavon coming down the homestrech of his career was the on player who has spent his career in the MLS. So in looking for a former National Team and MLS star to be the MLS ambassator Donavon is in line for the job. In not making the cut for the National team he made himself much available to the media. After 20 years the first generation has grown up with the MLS

The World Cup affected other sports as well, at some cities in North America. With it being over focus back on the MLS and International matches being played in the US and Canada having raising there popularity. Against JK wishes having the players from the US playing on MLS clubs have raised the interest as well. You watch the World Cup and team US players gaining celebrity and then they disapear into a EURO league leaves a diconnect. Bradley and Dempsey being among the big name players give a connect now playing in the MLS. Imagine the positive attention the MLS would be getting if Tim Howard were in the MLS.
