is lombardo playing or not??? if he's in for tomorrow, i'm sure they'll rest him tonight... how about nunez, lumley and ex-tfc dev player a.j. gray... nunez can have impact although i find him slow sometimes... hope lomardo is in... taht would be sweet! i'm making a friendly bet that simeon jackson will score a goal for canada in the 1st 15 minutes! also look out for ricketts, edgar, peters and lacoste-lebuis (if he plays) to have a good match. go red!
ya lombardo played tonight and looked pretty good, had some good runs, but was always foiled near goal. he should get some 1st team TFC action soon!!! besides that, my man of the match was jaime peters. wow, he is gonna be crucial this summer for canada, great pace & moves, overall excellent player. Begovic (sp?) look excellent as well, very solid. i knew our U-20 boys were very good, but after tonights performance things look bright preparing for the WC, i can see us making q-finals for sure. Go Canada!! p.s. i met brian budd at the game...what a class act. didnt hesitate to stop and talk a little footy with a fellow supporter.
they did look good huh? lombardo had 3-4 guys on him constantly. and he, peters and jackson creatd quite a few problems for the argentine defenders. not sure what begovic was thinking for the first goal against... he was way to far out of his net... bad decision. but he did make some great saves later on in the match. canada deserved the win or draw. the result wasn't close to the way canada played. we owned argentina late in teh second half. they really have one guy who just waits for the ball and is caught offside constantly... other than that, argentina didn't really impressme that much... defenders were probably th ebest thing going for them... jackson is everything i thought he was. and there was soem really good communication on the field with the canadian boys! good job! felt bad for lombardo because he couldn't move and was very frustrated eventually taking a yellow card for some rough play. i must also say that the argentine defenders were constatntly pushing, saw a hand ball taht wasn't called and most of the argentine players spent at least 20 seconds on the field curdled over trying to draw a penalty. very sad but i guess that's they cheap way they play...
... and sadly, it was Lombardo's man who put in the header to give Argentina the win. Edgar was angry and then joined him as they both doubled over, hands on knees. When the scorer broke for the high ball, Lombardo didn't go with him. Ah well. Lombardo did look good and obviously has some attitude. B
Lombardo was excellent tonight. His game has blossomed. He will be a fine player. He was an excellent target man and had excelellent interplay with Jackson. Nunez was so-so at best. sort of invisible. Gala did not impress much. I hear Attakora-Gyan is on our dev squad now...he played well.
i always feel taht way about nunez.. he just seems a step or two behind... i wish ricketts got some more time... lactoste-lebuis looked very good. gotta lose the hair though... i thought he was of the opposite sex at first... okay, you guys have to agree that argentina gets the ugly player award though huh? man what a bunch of cavemen...
I asked this question in another post, but who is on our developmental squad now? (The only names listed have been: Djekanovic, Gala, Guzman, Ibrahim, Lombardo, Lumley, Melo) How does the dev squad work in terms of salaries, rights, etc...?
the team is very solid...although Argentina was still missing some of their best players canada did do some things offensively that gets me excited...i will post pictures later on... If Will Johnson was here Nunez wouldn't have started as Will Johnson woulda played in the attacking midfield role...
and kennedy owusu-ansah! canada was missing a few good players too! we can't kid ourselves, we will compete with the same quality as any other top 10 team. the canucks have a very good shot for a top 3 i believe.
