http://soccernet.espn.go.com/headlinenews?id=254134&cc=5901 From what I see in this article that speaks about the upcoming MLS season, they mention there will be games mostly on weekends (Sundays included). IIRC, one of the stumbling blocks for not having MLS on Spanish TV was the lack of Sunday games...Could this change due to this new schedule?
Sundays Still not that many Sunday dates - only 10: http://www.mlsnet.com/schedules/index.html Wasn't part of the issue also the really early start times that the tv nets wanted for games - something like noon or 1pm ET? I don't know why a tape-delay broadcast of a Sat night game on Sunday at noon or 1pm ET wouldn't work. Telemundo and the Univision nets do tape-delay broadcasts all the time - sometimes even on several days' delay.
Most of the Sunday games are in October. I think I read somewhere that they are trying to have ESPN2 pick up those games, since they televise college football in the fall on Saturdays. Hopefully they do, or else there will be no national TV games from Labor Day till the playoffs in November.
Not a bad idea. Sunday is a weekend date, so hopefully that'll also translate to more fans in the stands.
