They should look at Pat Ercoli. He's amassed quite the trophy case.

Jesus, when I saw that on MN I about threw-up...
I love Dwight, great guy and all -- but he isn't ready and shouldn't even be considered.

Fid, why not? He's not going to leave his post at Capital. He'd be the perfect person to babysit the team through the rest of the year and then leave. This way, they don't hire Bob the water pistol as interim, and then based on the results of the second half of the season, promote him to full time head coach. All that would do is continue the bad cycle started with Fitz. This is a great way to break the mold.

Of course, this is all speculation on our part. They may very well have the person in Columbus today ready to announce. I doubt it, but you never know. I would rather see John Cooper run this team for the rest of the year over Warzycha. I know that's an extreme, but hey. It (hopefully) changes the paradigm.

Nah....At least not as a full time replacement. He's got his own little kingdom at OWU. He RUNS that athletic dept. Not just because he's the AD either. He's the biggest fish in that pond, and from what I understand, that's the way (uh-huh, uh-huh) he likes it.

I did not know that. Still, I can't see him doing this for any more than a "caretaker" role. The same situation that SCN was discussing for Burgess. I don't see either one as a post 2005 solution.

The smart money's got to be on Warzycha.

They should have noticed a trend when it comes to college coaches by now...

Burgess is so much weaker than Martin.

Martin has actually produced many players who have played pro; both in the US and Europe. None in any of the first division.

Jay has been a consultant for the Crew.

Doubt Sigi would leave California cheap.
    Dir maybe.
Harkes possible - not enough experience IMO.
Hankinson - has been in Brazil since beginning of this yr with a club.
Whatshisname -ex-dallas coach - Jeffries - no way.

Except that he would HAVE to leave Capital. You can't coach an MLS team and an NCAA side at the same time, no way. And IIRC He has to start preseason around Aug 15.

It's a no-credibility move anyway: HSG has to bring in MLS experience.

Fid, I look forward to an interview with whoever replaces Greg (similar to the McCullers interview if possible).

Here's some questions to start with if you're looking:
    1. What do you think are the strengths and weaknesses of this team?
    2. What style best suits this team as it stands today?
    3. What style do you want to ultimately see with this team and how will you make that transition?
    4. Given the love affair Crew fans had with Mr. Andrulis, what are your thoughts going into this job about the fans?

Forget Dwight. I see them hiring Bill McDermott on an interim basis. His first act will be to bring back Dante Warshington to take all of our shart carner kicks.

Bob is going to be named interim coach.

A search will begin immediately for a new head coach.

No. There is no precedent for this having happened before in MLS. However, that's only a nine-and-a-half year span.

Besides this is MLS. They make up the rules as they go all the time. And, if a President/GM can switch teams mid-season, I don't see why an assistant coach can't become a head coach somewhere else mid-season.

It happens all the time in other leagues. Of course the league still has a penchant for recycling old coaches (think Sigi Schmid, Dave Dir, Fernando Clavijo).
