Skoda's actually aren't terrible cars, I saw several dealerships in Germany, they're certainly not as bad as Yugo's and Ladas anyway (then again, there were also Citroen dealerships in Germany). Must be germany. In a country where driving 140 miles an hour is no big exception, you'd say they know their sh!t.
What's defined as 'best'? If your aiming at reliability and technical inovation, it's definetely Japan. In some way the French cars drive very smoothly, and design is offcourse something the Italian top in. But wheras the Italian cars suck in reliability, the Japanese aren't that good in design (altough they are learning), Germany has the best score overall. In the end it's just about what the customers want. For instance, if someone wants a 'driverscar', the exterior isn't that important.
