Im not sure if this has been discussed here already (sorry if it has). As it seems that the US/Portugal game is off what will be the "surprise" game that Revs season tix holders were promised? My friends and I always thought it would be the US/Portugal game.
the rumor has it that a spectacular mid-week affair is in the works for sept 18th. following the revs' matchup with powerhouse colorado, another stellar club v country matchup (seems to be kraft soccer's exhibition specialty) has turks & caicos matched up against la liga's very own osasuna! here's hoping the game is a usoc game v mid-mich bucks v3.0!
More on the September 18th rumor if you could? Actually I can't quite tell whether you're being facetious about the matchup or about the date altogether. Have there really been some grumblings about a match on that date? If so, are there any specifics that anyone is aware of? If not, please excuse my mistaking your facetiousness for an actual nugget of info. I've actually been thinking (and hoping not) that if something doesn't come about soon we may be looking at the second Gold Cup DH as our "special ticket A" match....US v. Martinique (?) and Canada v. ???
yeah, i'm still a bit bitter about the time when the revs decided (with about 2 weeks notice, btw) to put together a revs/crew & haiti/el salvador dh in 2000 where the haiti match "required the use" of a "special event" ticket in our package. i think its safe to say that 95% of the s.t. holders wouldn't pay for a game like that outright....not to mention being told that we no choice about that match 2 weeks before it happened. that's not all that good for an aug 5 match where many may have alread had summer plans and could swallow missing one...but maybe not 2. looks like you were right about the 7/14 game.
whole lotta soccer That means 8 games in 5 days for us st holders: Sat Jul 12th (Events 8 & 9?) 1:00pm Costa Rica vs Canada 4:00pm Revs vs NYM 6:30pm USA vs El Salvador Mon Jul 14th (Event 19) 6:30pm USA vs Martinique 8:30pm Canada vs Cuba Wed Jul 16th (Event 6) 4:30pm Costa Rica vs Cuba 6:30pm Revs vs Dallas 9:00pm El Salvador vs Martinique the pitch oughta be great for that last one throw in: Sun Jul 27th (Events 10 & 11?) 4:00pm Revs vs DC 6:30pm Barcelona vs Juventus to make 10 matches in July. That also leaves the Revs with only 3 games in June, all against last place teams (COL twice, DC once)
Re: whole lotta soccer And while it won't be the Revs, I believe the Nats would be playing their GC Quarters on the 19th at Gillette...
that's right. not unlike the mls playoffs...of the 6 teams we'll be seeing on 7/12,14,&16, we'll see 4 of them again on the 19th during the q-finals.
