not a very consistant player lately (stupid injury against Porto last season)...think he might be going back to Sporting? or do Madrid want to keep him?

    Just a curious Portugal supporter.

    Figo should go

I agree with you that they might not sell him and that is to bad...cause Real can do better by getting beckham and getting rid of Figo

Beckham for Figo + $$$$ would be a step backwards.

Beckham is behind Figo in many areas and would have to adjust to a totally different culture and language. He will no longer be his team's star and may not find the style of play to his liking.

Beckham: claro que no, pero Joaquin o Quaresma: por supuesto!

    Beckham ain't comin' anyway.

Are you just trolling with this thread? Figo was fantastic in CL games against ManUtd and especially Tuesday's match against Juve.

    Following one step b
Ya se ha dicho hasta el cansancio que Beckham no está en los planes del Madrid y que Beckham no se va de su adorado Manchester. Además, incluso si Beckham u otro viene al Madrid, FIGO NO se vá y que NO se vaya.

    Here
    Why??

I dunno why many ppl think that Figo's performance was bad. I actually though it was good. Atleast better than MANY other performances I've seen. He was great against Man Utd also.

If Figo woul leave willingly then that is another thing. I would like to see him end his career wearing the most beautiful white jersey football has known, and I would get pissed of if he would want to leave. But I doubt Madrid will let him go.

And I hope Lawmill is right about Beckham. That He WON'T come. The last thing we need is another overrated player. The only good thing about that is that we wouldn't waste so much free kicks

This season Figo stinks more than a wet dog.

He's had a very mediocre year for Real Madrid. Yes he played well in game 1 vs Manchester United but that was a rare game for him. He holds the ball way too much, is too much an individualist and doesn't seem to understand that he doesn't have the speed to beat people with the ball at his feet. Plus he slows Madrid's attacks down with his selfish play.

Juventus laid off him last week knowing they'd rather mark other players and feeling Figo couldn't beat them. They were right in this assumption. Despite seeing plenty of the ball Figo didn't do much (until his late shot well saved by Buffon at the end of the game). Figo is way past his best years.

Figo is playing very good this year. He doing a great job and he is very important for the team. Here you have his Statistics.

1 position in Assists (12). Second Zidane with 9.
    3 position in goals (10 la liga and 2 Cl). 1st Ronaldo 23 (17 and 6), second Raul 20 (11 and 9).

He has been a very valuable player this year. And the Club knows that.

Most of Figo's goals have come from penalty kicks this year. I still feel he hurts Madrid's attack by slowing it down. While other players are willing to use one touch passes, Figo gets the ball and usually tries to hold it too long and try and beat his man with the dribble but he usually ends up losing the ball. The problem is, as I said before, he doesn't have the speed he had 2 years ago. Sure he is still going to make some nice plays but overall his level is way below what it used to be and I no longer feel he is necessary in Madrid's team.

bigtoga: Im not sure what trolling means. I was asking because there seems to be a lot of contraversy over whether or not he is an asset to the team. people like Merenque have good arguments, his selfishness will be the end of him.

Technically, I think he is real's best player, however Figo's runs down the side become really repetitive because lately, he almost invariably loses the ball.

Against Juve (game 1) he had great runs down the side. Reminded me why he got player of the year.

Trolling means that you are writing a post simply to invoke a negative reaction.

As for Figo, he sure didn't help his cause on this thread today by missing that &(*&ing penalty...

I couldn't agree more. Figo is a selfish player who has lost his speed and he does not fit well into Madrid's team due to his selfishness. Today's penalty miss hopefully will be the last straw and we'll see Figo on a train out of town. His time at Madrid should come to an end.

Hey mario we can send him back to the azulgrana!

Figo has had a poor season. I've already gone into details over his deficiencies. He was a good player in his first year at Madrid, last year he did fine but wasn't as good as the prior year and this year he has been a disaster. As Martin Cutler said hopefully his penalty miss will give the team the impetus to get him off the team next season. Madrid will be a quicker more dynamic team without Figo.

    What's wrong with Figo?

10 La Liga goals and a Spain-best 11 assists, including two Saturday in Madrid's crucial 2-1 victory over Valencia.

He may not be the player he once was, but he is still damn good, all of this bitching and moaning notwithstanding!

5 goals by penalty, and 10 assists. Figo has always been among the leaders in assists.

Statistics don't always tell the story though. Figo has definitely slowed down and in a lot of games looked complacent. He can still put in a world class performance but in many cases that I have seen him play he looks lethargic and selfish.

Selfish players don't lead the league in assists on a regular basis.

    Dude,

I was just stating the obvious, and is not him just missing the penalty is a lot more ... and you know it, I know some people don't want to face reality.

As beckham playing or not playing for Real makes no difference to me...just it seem like Real had some interest.

    Anyway Peace!

We love Figo for the player he was not for the player he is

Listen I like Figo for the player he was not for the player he is. Let's be real honest his time his over...and as for the moaning thing , no one is moaning here some are saying truths. (You know Figo reminds me of Michael Jordan, some people don't know when to quit)

    Nuff said!!!

Sure, Figo is on the downside of an illustrious career. He cannot go out on a consistent basis and dominate games as he has in the past. But this being said, he is still among the best wingers in the world and on any given day, he is Real’s best players. I cite his statistics this year to show that he is still a very productive and important player for Real. If Real does not want him anymore, so be it. He will have no shortage of clubs that would love to have him.

Fully agreed, always with a couple of extra (and unnecesary) dribbles
