some abundance types would like Democrats to go towards a more Clinton Type party, that would piss off the hard left. Abundance also says that we over did it with regulations, we became the party of process and just made the process way more difficult that it should be, that scares some people that see it as an excuse to hurt unions, the environment, minority groups, ect. I do not think they are wrong, the problem with democrats is that we are trying to do things for many different groups, each regularity process that tries to help one, slows down the efficiency of government. It hurts the ability for Democrats to accomplish their policies. As Klein put it in some podcast, the whole school rock song on how a bill becomes law is no longer complete. Getting a bill into law is only the first step, the regulatory process that happens afterwards can be just as difficult. I would think it is not about trowing one or two particular groups under the bus, but the party most make selections and depending on the project, we need to cut out some groups from the process, we can not have all of them having virtual veto power to derail every government project.
More than 40 percent of New York City mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo’s top endorsements by elected officials have come from people who publicly condemned him four years ago, a POLITICO review found. Nate Silver is not popular I know, but he broke down a 2022 survey on mental health, conservatives say they are happier at every demographic breakdown. https://www.natesilver.net/p/what-explains-the-liberal-conservative
These numbers were likely the same under Biden. Some people simply choose to be miserable. Being angry at the world gives them purpose, especially in the absence of faith.
No brain no pain We break down happiness by political affiliation and try some still-warm chimichangas in a Nebraska slaughterhouse break room after an ICE raid. All this and more in the next Silver Bulletin.
"Say" they are happier. But I think there some overall contributing factors (which I'm not going to look for). Among those are race, gender, and the article-mentioned age. What I would also like to know is how the questions where asked. I also would like to know the percentage of people by political affiliation are in therapy. And, there is the ratio question, particularly for the LGBTQ+ community. I'm assuming that the numbers are the mean, not the middle, which would skew (up or down) a small cohort. In this case, a smaller group of gay Republicans could have a larger effect, in this case, up. It's a data point, but I don't think it is that significant.
I get it, it's just like how I am not an alcoholic because I don't go to meetings. But it still makes us an unhappy bunch. Perhaps that is why that other study I saw claimed Democrats were more intolerant to dissenting oppositions, we are unhappy and get angry.
"We" sure have to improve our attitudes and anger issues Did RFK Jrs brain worm take a detour? Your concern trolling is truly off the charts lately.
One thing to note, black liberals report being almost as happy as white conservatives, both happier than white liberals.
I''m not interpreting the chart like that. I would say that Black liberals are happier than any other race-based group of liberals, but considering there were 60,000 respondents, an 8 point gap between Black liberals and White conservatives is pretty significant.
From the economists. Romans 3:23 I believe. "In each of the big cities in states run by Democrats the problems are similar: the cost of living is enormous; taxes are high yet services are often poor; and infrastructure is shoddy. The best rebuke to the president would be to deal with these issues" https://www.economist.com/united-st..._content=discovery.content&utm_source=twitter
You know what would make the mayors’ jobs easier? If those cities weren’t all “donating” 10s of millions or even billions to red states.
(Watches migrants, US citizens & college kids being snatched off the street by thugs in sus uniforms) Hey - let me tell you about this concept I have. The United States of Canada. Good things for good people. I know it was a goofy meme under Dubya. But if Orange Fvckhead declares martial law and/or cancels the 2026 elections, I'd be 100% for secession. At that point it wouldn't even be America anymore .
That would mean reducing the size of the Federal / State governments. That is not popular among the left.
