Considering the places where abortion has been on the ballot and won in the past 2+ years, I don't necessarily think that making Christianity the be-all end-all of the reason Dems lost is helpful. Initially, it looks more like plan old sexism. Now, I'm not dismissing Christianity, and more specifically, evangelicalism, as a reason, but from initial reporting, that does not seem to be the top reason.
Doing as my post suggested is the idea in a nutshell. I cut thru the bullshit. You want to meet bigots where they are. That means giving them something. In this case, the something is a nonwhite demo. Knave, at this point I'm just about willing to let one of your cops kneel on my neck so you can thrive. Just quit acting like you (and soccernutter, as he liked your reply) want the same freedoms for me that you want for yourself. That specific lack of simple human decency became evident when you talked about meeting bigots where they are.
That's the kind of man I am. The crane that's tall enough to lift you, knave or Nutter, up off the ground and drop you into one of my shoes... hasn't been invented.
This is such rubbish. You're assuming they're all bigots. I'm assuming some are. I want to pick off the persuadable voters who are listening to Rogan and others.
And where do you think patriarchal sexism derives from in the USA? The fact of the matter is if 81% or so of white evangelicals did not vote for the Hitler-loving felon, he wouldn't have had a chance at victory. They have consistently been his biggest demographic.
You can read. You don't need my persimmon to meet bigots halfway. Use your privilege to make it happen. You're not the only one thinking about a Chamberlain moment. That's WTF
What I'm reading in your "white boy" comment is straight up racism. You and I have been talking politics for a long, long time. And we've been on the same side. I'm totally appalled by your behavior here. You want to burn bridges, I can't stop you. But that ain't gonna win the next election.
It's not even close to your position that the Dems are too concerned about ALL the oppressed to make YOUR struggle the only one. The last week or so, you have been as White as Stephen Miller and Steve Bannon. I'm totally appalled (and shocked- this is not who you've been over the years) by your tacit suggestion that I am the excess ballast keeping the ship from moving forward with everyone in agreement. Or that there even IS excess ballast. We ALL deserve better treatment. And what's more, you're not naive enough to think they aren't all bigots. OF COURSE THEY'RE ALL BIGOTS! Why the ******** else would they be conservative? I'm done trying, I'm 60 and I knew enough not to bring a child into this America.
And to compromise ("meeting [bigots] where they are") on some ideals (no bigots, period) so that those who oughta already be comfortable by comparison can be even moreso while the most vulnerable victims stay under America's knee, unable to breathe...
You sound like MitH, and let's be clear- he was no role model for anyone, with his disgusting, almost libertarian views
This hasn't been what I'm saying. This is how you are choosing to view what I'm saying. And by doing that, you're saying far more about your anger right now than you are portraying anything truthful about what I think. So, I'm done talking with you about this. It's completely futile.
Again, I'm not dismissing evangelicals. But the more general sexism of our society (which started with religion, but has definitely morphed beyond it) is the problem. For example, it seems to me that more people seem to think a male (Trump) will manage the economy better than a female (Harris). To me, that is viewed by the lack of female economic analysts on news programs, and as CEOs of major corporations than it is directly to religion.
A smaller percentage of Black men voted for Harris than voted for Biden (IOW, more voted for Trump in 2024 than in 2020). Are they self-sacrificing or did they just not want to vote for a Black woman? Or is something else going on?
Like I said... no one else will do this. But I will. That's how disgusted I am at hearing knave whine about not getting a discount at Hermes when he knows they shut the door on Black folks (Oprah). He has a key to the store and gets to ******** the owners daughter.
I can't force you not to ask me about votes that cannot move the needle until you deal with what you just did to POCs all over the planet with that like, but I can ask you nicely to address what I said about you, personally.
You have loads of insults. Not once have you even attempted to prove that there are voters who went Trump but are not bigots. You just double down and call me out of line. Prove they ain't bigots.
It's all about cultural worldviews - how the group understands the natural and social environments. Religion is the primary conduit for it, but is not specifically the originator of it.
Trump had his first term as a track record of a (continuing) successful economy (pre-Covid). Harris had the inflation weight on her back and she said she wouldn't have anything different than Biden. I know it's not a fair argument but we know that's how politics work. Plus the fact that Republicans are historically viewed as better on the economy because of the immediate effects of tax cuts. We know it's not that simple, but that's still the general perception to many. I am not saying there weren't people voting because of sexism/racism, but these other reasons were more decisive IMO. As with anything, multiple factors contribute to the whole picture and it's not down to a single one and it's really impossible to know how much each one weights more.
You have yet to prove conservatives ain't bigots, and you have yet to provide evidence that meeting bigots where they are will grab their vote without them asking if they can still be bigots.
You have yet to throw up anything except insults and strawmen. Seriously, you're out here all but claiming I'm the Jewish Goebbels because I think Dems should go on Rogan and elsewhere to appeal for gettable voters. That's what meeting voters where they are means, by the way.
