I mean what else could someone posting on a forum dedicated to el jogo bonito possibly know about Brazil?
I am getting sick and tired of some Democratic elected officials kissing the ring or sucking up to Leon.....With allies like that, who the ******** need enemies? aaron.rupar ustry20h 20 hours ago Democratic Sen. Richard Blumenthal praises Elon Musk for the second straight day, calling him "the foremost champion of free speech in the tech ind."
I said it before but anyone serving pre 2000 had to go. They are fighting am old war and believe that there is a place to work and compromise. They are the people that helped get us here.
AOC is two (three?) generations behind Pelosi/Connolly, so even if they had the same general stance on politics, AOC would have a different view on what to prioritize. But AOC is to the left of Pelosi (and I assume Connolly), and does, in fact, represent the future of the Democratic Party. And, yes, Pelosi needs to go silently into that good night.
I think more old Congresspeople should look at the example of Dianne Feinstein. She was in the Senate before 2000, and now she's dead. There may or may not be a causal relationship between those two facts, but should other Congresspeople who served before 2000 really take that chance?
I took a quick look at it seems that from the election of 2022, the age in the Senate INCREASED! The House dropped, but that was from 59 to 58 (or 58 to 57). We need to have new and younger people get elected.
Apparently AOC has secured enough votes to be the ranking member on Oversight (despite Pelosi actively campaigning for Gerry Connelly). Good for her. I will follow her in the fight and she will bring it on unlike some of the clowns willing to pretend there is some ways to work with this gang of plutocrats. She is going to be fun to watch next to this empty suit call James Comer. AOC has the support to be the ranking DNC member on Oversight From Politico: “Most current Democrats on the Oversight Committee, which is stacked with some of the most liberal, outspoken members of the caucus, are expected to back Ocasio-Cortez, according to dozens of members and staffers...”
She is one of the best communicators in the party if not the best. She has very good political skills and instincts as well. Big talent.
Someone mentioned this last week....Rahm Emmanuel is saying the same thing now... Writing in the Washington Post, Emanuel acknowledged that the Obama administration's failure to punish the Wall Street CEOs whose reckless greed crashed the American economy in 2008 led to a major disillusionment with the American political establishment that allowed someone like Trump to slide into the picture offering an alternative. "Not only was no one held accountable, but the same bankers who engineered the crisis were aggrieved at the suggestion of diminished bonuses and government intervention," Emanuel wrote. "It was a mistake not to apply Old Testament justice to the bankers during the Obama administration, as some had called for at the time."
Sigh. https://www.msnbc.com/the-reidout/r...house-oversight-committee-connolly-rcna184504 Connolly wins the vote for ranking member. I guess Pelosi's influence isn't quite done after all.
Yeah....Actually, Conolly won the vote in Committee. It will go to the Democratic floor now for a vote...I doubt AOC will win there either. That sucks....Conolly is a decent guy, but he is 73 yrs old, fighting esophagus cancer, that is frankly ridiculous.
The lost the Caucus vote as well....Pelosi is still pulling strings...This is pathetic. Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez lost to Rep. Gerry Connolly Tuesday in a bid for ranking member of the House Oversight Committee. The 35-year-old lost 131-84 in the closed door caucus vote.
I respect Connolly but god damn man--you're 74 and fighting cancer. STEP ASIDE. This is just so out of touch yet complete on-brand for Democrats.
Was this vote between AOC and Connolly being discussed on the socials? If so, what is the tenor of the discussion, and how much is it being discussed. I'm asking as it might be a signal for the Dem leadership to change their ways.
