I agree with him though, you're not supposed to call people stupid, you're supposed to call them vermin.

I believe race has a role but I also believe the public is dumb as phuck. They don't understand money or economics. We are doing great all things considered but from the time of prices and stimulus to now, things are different. When you have a populace that doesn't understand civics, all they know is they wish they had more money to live more comfortably and tell them trust me, we are wasting money in Ukraine and on illegals and needs to go back to you, that makes sense to them because they have no understanding of money and the economy.

I will stand by the fact that a generic white male candidate would have won but I will say the dumbness of people to stay home and stuff relates to their idiocy on economics.

What I hate is the Dem leaders will get mean the press will cry that is mean and where is the civility and the Dems will yield.

I agree with Kaz, all these Dem leaders that were there during Reagan or post Reagan need to go. The Press is your enemy.

Good opinion article fromJosh Marshall...it should be required reading for all elected democrats, strategist and other higher ups in the party...

Waiting for Trump: Norms, Trash Talk and the Cold Hand of ‘Militant P#$%ydom’

As the clock winds down on the Biden presidency, Democrats and the Democrat-adjacent are hashing out, often awkwardly and painedly, what stance to take toward the second Trump presidency. I’ve already discussed this issue in the piece I wrote back on November 14th: “The Most Pernicious Anticipatory Obedience Hides in Plain Sight.” As I wrote in that post, there’s a species of Democrat who imagines there’s “some power or badassery or even a species of courage in” declaring constantly that Trump is all-powerful and everyone is powerless before him. Today this is playing out over Trump’s threat to jail the members of the Jan. 6th committee after pardoning the insurrectionists themselves.

For myself, I’m with former Rep. Adam Kinzinger, whose response to Trump was “bring it on.” This isn’t just about the personal and aesthetic importance of standing or going down fighting rather than cowering. (And yes, obviously it means much less coming from me than Kinzinger.) There’s also the deeper issue I discussed in that November post, which is how much fuel anyone should give Trump, how large a penumbra of fear and shock we should allow Trump to cast with boasts he probably lacks the courage to make good on and would probably struggle to make good on if he were up to trying. This isn’t the same as ignoring these crazed and degenerate threats. And it doesn’t mean these threats couldn’t come to pass. Managing that balance is at the heart of this period we are living through.

In a series of arguments over this on the rising social platform Bluesky over the weekend I let myself call this tendency “militant pussydom,” a phrase I’d never use here on the site. But the sentiment is merited. If someone is tapped out, overwhelmed, overcome by pessimism — I get that. It’s that need some people have to make an ideology of that sadsackery, to propagandize for it. Where does that urge come from, that inside-out valor? It’s weird, is all I have to say."

I hope Wikler gets the DNC chair. Was at a town hall/feed back session post Barnes debacle, and he did a really good job of listening to and giving feedback to those of us who were present. I'd like to hear what happened this time around as I wasn't there, but he seems to have been really good at both strategy/logistics and fund raising.

On this, I think we need to separate out the early voters from the late voters. For the early voters, I'm sure it was more of what you said, about not being willing to vote for a female who is also of color (Black specifically). But the late voters I would suspect that the female part ranked higher than the race part, otherwise they would have voted earlier. It would also explain why it is easier for the late voters to say that the making-more-money issue was more important.

"I told you so" won't win voters, and just smacks of bitterness. It might be right, but won't help.

The Dems need to work on their message as soon as the next DNC chair is chosen. And there needs to be a relentless push to have Democrat members out there pushing that message with various kinds of verbiage to see what works best. And they need to be everywhere, from the big shows on Sundays to local TV stations to niche podcasts to various social media places as well.

Do you realize what a moron you sound like? I'm not saying you are a moron, you just sound like one.

Frankly, while you think Democrats shouldn't vote until they get in line behind MAGA, I'm of the opinion that if we just started rounding up morons and putting them in the pit, we could finally fix this country once and for all. See how that works?

Yeah, the 2020 results came out in 2023. Might have made more sense to say either "2020 census" or "results released 2023."

With all due respect, it may be time for Pelosi to go quietly into the sunset....I like Coney but the dude is 74 and has the charisma of a lamp post....

“Former Speaker Nancy Pelosi is actively working to tank Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez’s (D-NY) bid to become the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee,” Punchbowl News reports.

“Pelosi is making calls on behalf of Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-VA), who is running against AOC to be ranking member of Oversight.”

“The backing from Pelosi, who still holds influence in the party, could be a big boost for Connolly. Sources close to the Virginia Democrat say he’s growing increasingly confident that he’ll prevail in the race, telling us Connolly has received nearly 130 hard yes or leaning yes commitments. For what it’s worth, Ocasio-Cortez is also confident she’ll have the votes. But what else are you going to say at this point — that you’re losing?”

Pelosi is part of the problem. Is AOC part of the solution? No idea, but the DNC needs to stop running the same BS all the time, hoping it'll work eventually.

It is hard when a politician can say stuff and not be held to account for it. I don't think this guy can be messaged to but there are others. People in rural communities who are anti immigrants but need workers. Same in the construction trade. I mean he failed on the Wall and people still don't care.

    "but"?
That's a starring role. Charlie is right. Go back and look at Glaude's comment again. Then take a look at the views of some other Black personalities. Ask AOC how this brownshirt won the race.
I'll be as nice about this as I can. It sometimes takes more than a generation or two for a POC to recognize his own second-class status. This wasn't about jack shit but race and gender.

Racist is dumb. There is no contradiction here.

It's too late. He's voted. His business and the businesses of others like him need to fail.
He doesn't need to be able to make a reasonable plea on television and have things straightened out for him but not me.

Pray the tariffs and deportations come to pass. Basically this has to hit people above us on the food chain, and that means White people and Peninsulare Latinos, probably criollios and mestizos as well, whatever caste(s) voted for my demise.

They are anti-POC (and it doesn't have shit to do with perceived "skills", which was a code for White used back in the day when immigration was first limited). Don't ever allow them to pretend it's about immigration in general. They'd love to have Horst and Helga come aboard, bearing lutefisk and varicose veins.

They can lose their businesses as well. We've been on this shithole plot of land for over 400 years. If they need workers, their spawn can go to school with the Brown children of those workers and eat at tables near those workers. Or they can rot. I don't really think any of them can be messages, and I'm no longer sure they should be.

It's time to stop trying to save this country from the fetishes of its largest racial population.
