This is why the issue is more to do with branding and vibes than policy

it shouldn't be ignored that for the last 2 years, Biden has been exceptionally poor at communicating what his admin has been doing.

Social media game was good but he himself was not on TV or on air. That is the one thing I can't believe Dems haven't learned from Trump, crow about every win. Talk about it everywhere ans every chance you get same for your surrogates. But they are all afraid that saying you are reducing prices ain't the same as 2018 prices so say nothing.

right. so you need a front man who can do that.

kamala actually excelled when she did that stuff but i think she needed more than 100 days.

and of course it helps if you have a national brand already

Come on...let's no fall into this "I need to make more money " nonsense....Most people who made up their mind late very likely decided they could not/ would not pull the lever for a black woman. As simple as that.....The whole price of egg/making more money are nonsense.

Personally, I think you all underestimate how much anti-LGBT+ hatred there is out there, which also largely coincides with "non-educated", "working class", "evangelical" ... voters. There is a reason it was one of the main thrusts of the orange Hitler-loving felon's advertising campaign.

edit: add to it a woman of color, noted by charlie15.

If you test almost any policy that Dems offer without saying it is Democrat, it usually polls high, like universal healthcare coverage, or taxing the super-rich, or investing on green energy, etc.

If you test almost any policy that the GQP offers, it usually polls very low (and it is almost always deregulation and lower taxes for the wealthy and corporations) so they avoid saying it for the most part. But when Trump promises the stupid xenophobic, transphobic, racist fascist stuff, the rethuglican voters are not all for it, but somehow voters think that it doesn't apply to them or their friends and family, so they think it is safe to vote for the fascists.

As @charlie15 said in the leopards thread, a big portion of the electorate is very stupid.

Make sure to keep saying that, especially to neutral voters. They will certainly join your side.

Sadly, my kindergarten teacher fostered my childhood hatred of homosexuals. Some people actually like Steven Anderson and the new IFB. NSFW.

    THIS.

Far too many politicians in both parties react to "working class" by picturing a white man wearing wearing a hardhat rather than, say, a Hispanic single Mom juggling two part-time retail jobs.

Stupid is as stupid does. If they don't get why it is bad to vote for Trump, they're stupid.

They keep voting for the leopards or for inconsequential candidates that help the leopards, so I don't care, they're pretty much irredeemable, most of them.

So you don't care about your side losing as long as you can keep calling regular people stupid. Cool.

I would love to see all the policies Trump has blathered on about come to fruition. Then, people like you will realize their vote was dumb and Trumps legacy will be as a laughingstock.

100% agree with the anti-LGBT+ hatred being a huge factor as well.

I was just limiting my earlier comment to the economic side of thing.

I don't have a side. I am an independent. I was a Republican for most of my adult life. I was a young republican in college in Houston where I majored in Political Science. I don't want or care to have people join "my side" because I don't have one. But one of the reasons why I stopped voting republican, is because they attract stupid fucking people and they are OK with that.

    It's how they win.

It's a month since sun devil posted this, and while he was posting very much in the heat of the moment, I fully fvcking agree.

I want Dems to be better -- more aggressive and meaner -- with their branding. Republicans have long been better at this, and it works for dumb fvck voters. Think "death tax." That's a brilliant syllogism on so many levels. Death panels was another one, which is ironic since MAGAts were the ones during covid saying that granny would be happy to die so her grandkids didn't have to wear a mask. Pro life is another, esp since it's so sanctimonious when what you really want to make women terrified about their personal choices.

Every tariff that Trump levies needs to be a Trump Tariff and any inflation that results is Trumpflation. I'm very pessimistic in that I think Ukraine is going to fall, but any conversation of Ukrainian casualties needs to be referenced as Ukrainians that Trump betrayed.

Surely there is someone out there who can do this better than I can, but Dems need to be on point and relentless. We need a misery index, and it needs to be flogged ad infinitum.

Yeah, thinking that there would ever be any chance of them "joining your side" is, well, pretty fucking stupid.

We are talking about a core of maybe 33-40% of the population that have been voting against their own interests for the last 50 years. I call that stupid. I don't see that changing by being "nice".

But hey, guns, Jesus and babies, right?
