Where does the party go after this?

  1. Does the party go right and try to find a new Bill Clinton

    70.8%
  2. Does the party go left to the Bernie Sanders wing

    29.2%

Which is why I keep saying you have to target the cultural worldview of the conservative base - a worldview that is inherently misogynistic, anti-LGBT+, Islamophobic, anti-science, etc.

Then she ended up going on SNL in NY the Saturday before election. Not sure how much time that took off her, but still ... after telling Rogan you have to come to me, it didn't look great. Looked like she was more worried about hanging out with her Liberal friends.

Mind you, I am not one of the people who thinks that going on his Podcast would have made a difference. Maybe a different Democrat candidate would have had more of an impact. I've seen you compare Rogan to Limbaugh in another post but they are not at all the same. But yes, it's not a good source for info. Basically because the guest gets to say whatever they want and it doesn't get checked or questioned 99% of the time. Although there are times he has like when Candace Owens was saying some stupid shit about global warming being fake. He has had Bernie and Andrew Yang and the conversations were just fine.

Plus the fact she did poorly in the primaries in 2020. Easy talking point. I do think she did a good job overall with what she had to work with.

No, you have to disabuse the left of its demand for purity. Because that demand for purity is nothing but a political handcuff that harms the Dem's ability to win elections.

If Dems go on Rogan (or elsewhere), they're not sanctioning or adopting his views (good or bad). They're hijacking his audience to appeal for their votes. The left doesn't understand this.

That bolded part gets me especially the way they express shock and dismay after the way they, following Trump spewed it out first.

Face it they’re being led by a fat 14 year old schoolyard bully.

Therefore, both are needed - one for short term and one for long term.

Right--but both can't be the primary organizing factor for the Democratic Party.

Personally, I'm not at all worried about 2028 IF it is a free and fair election (that's a big IF). The next 4 years are going to be so chaotic and detrimental to the country that, just like in 2020, there will be a massive backlash to Republicans. Furthermore, the orange Hitler-loving felon is now the oldest President-elect in history. Without the cult leader at the top of the ticket, and given the chaos the country will be in, IF it is a free and fair election Democrats will win ... easily.

I agree. The pendulum back and forth between the Republicans and the Democrats has been going on forever. The only thing that maybe be changing as we go deeper into the 21st century is that the pendulum seems to take only 4 years to get to the other side instead of the eight years it did in the past.

I think this is likely true, but I also think the damage Trump could do will take far more than four years to fix.

But my point was that electoral politics should reflect broader social changes, not be the primary driver of them.

I agree it will take far longer than four to fix and that broader social changes are important. That's why I presented the solution I did because it is a long-term solution that addresses the core cultural problem in America that prevents us from entering the 21th century (I was going to say 20th century just because of how much catching up we have to do).

Not sure who produced this video, but it is interesting to note Musk's ability to get information out, especially contradicting information depending on who it was targeted to, quickly and efficiently.

We can dispute a lot of what happened or didn't happen but i think Musk's involvement and the use of so much disinformation would have beaten any Democratic challenger.

Religion doesn't play a role here? I'm not totally sure what you mean but I tend to think I'm with Knave here - that you've lost the plot. Having a go at Knave in this way seems pretty misguided.

I'm also confused how you reconcile Black men voting for Trump and the statement that all Trump voters are bigots. I know people that thought Kamala was a phony and hadn't forgiven her for how she treated black men as a DA.

Why the creation of a viable 3rd party that takes the best of bothsides and mashes them into one, young man! Guarding the social safety net, looking out for the rights of immigrants, the LGBTQ community, POC and women. Protecting the environment and combating global warming. Keeping public education strong. And then mix that all with...Trumpism. A marriage made in cable talk hell to think of it.

At that stage of the campaign, I don't think it would have mattered one way or the other. Probably a good choice not to set a precedent that he is more important than a person campaigning for President..

While there are a lot of things to go though, it seems one of the biggest was that Harris didn't have a year to win the primary and then campaign. Would she have overcome the inherent sexism? I think so, if she had been able to run a year long+ campaign. And that would likely have mitigated issues about a prosecutor running against a felon, the Palestine/Israel question, separating herself from Biden, etc.

And while there is a lot of sexism and racism and bigotry out there, there has been a monumental societal shift in the past 20 to 30 years.

I don't think it's as monumental as you think. Superficially, sure. At the core, nope.
