I don't understand this 'disaster' nonsense. Average attendance was 49K compared to the Euro's 52. Averaged attendance would've even higher had the US and Mexico not gotten grouped. Viewership set records. Vast sums of money were made. There were some logistical and crowd control issues. Conmebol will learn from this. Ideally, this tournament should be held in the US at a cadence of every 8 years.
What’s your basis for that? There are a ton of US passport-holding Colombia fans in the US (especially Florida and NY). It seems obvious to me that most of the fans at these games live in the US. Just like when Honduras, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, or Mexico sell out stadiums.
These NFL stadiums are massive. 40 or even 50k will have vast sections of empty seats, despite being a fantastic attendance by global standards. Most stadiums at the recent World Cups have maxed out around 40-50k capacity. FIFA will need to decide if they want a full 100k at Cowboys stadium at lower prices or 40k at high prices.
Dolphins assessing ‘significant damage’ to Hard Rock Stadium after Copa America final security breach (yahoo.com) Yeah, Comnebol might be sued out of existence with what's coming their way
It would actually be owned by the Seminole tribe. I would like that. They are highly effective ownership group.
All I have been hearing for years is how much MLS has invested in infrastructure. Unfortunately, none of it is useful for international tournaments apparently. Not surprised that this silly MLS fan is worried about everything but soccer. These 4 games against conembol opponents were better than the four years beating up on weak concacaf teams. It is crazy, but not surprising, that folks wouldn't want to be a part of this whenever possible. Playing top competition is fun and cute? This MLS fan culture has to be the worst of all sports.
Spoken like a man who doesnt have a baseline understanding of stadium carrying capacity or safety. Id ask if you are functionall below a two digit IQ but that is apparent to this entire messageboard by now. What in Gods green earth do CONMEBOL and the Miami Dolphins stadium have to do with MLS? Christ almighty, MLS has as much to do with this situation as the NHL does you fruit of the stupid tree. That was CONMEBOL, and CONMEBOL only. Imagine even going to that game with a family........and thinking about what is happening around you and people you care about in that situation that developed.......luckily I know you will never have to worry about that. Ask MacAllister's mother how safe she felt at that game. Ask the guys who spent 10-15k on their tickets how stoked they were sitting outside of the gates while someone for the sake of "passion" decided to break into the stadium. Happy to be part of team MLS if that near catastrophe was the opposite team.
stupid inferior sports culture, I bet MLS doesnt even damage their stadiums. They probably have never had a stampede or bodies crushing into barriers before. Shows a complete lack of passion for the game. Totally....
God, we might have to make Black Friday shopping a sport then with my mother in law's Best Buy kill count. Think shes probably up to 3-4 now.
Another post where this MLS fan doesn't talk about soccer. Conembol severely mismanaged this tournament and you have overreacted like you always do.
MLS has the worst fan culture in all of sports. I wish we could keep your guys mediocrity out of the USMNT.
LOL young man, go sit down at the little kids table with Jonathon. Tell us about how it was MLS's fault again that caused the Copa America final debacle. You have issues to work through, and its abundantly obvious. Im sure you could tie Trump's assassination attempt into an MLS conspiracy theory somehow. Transitive law and such. Bet he was an Earthquake's supporter even.
"MLS, you know about MLS......I am the greatest supporter of soccer ever, some might say in the history of the world.......I know a great deal about soccer..... And MLS, is the WORST SOCCER LEAGUE IN THE HISTORY OF AMERICA, and we should be building a wall around it. The worst of them all......was Crooked Landon Donovan........and dont even get me started on Sleepy Don Garber....."
No clue what you are going on about. You are the MLS fan that created this stupid thread. You are the one that claimed wanting to play better teams was cute and fun.
You blamed MLS.........for something they literally, and I mean literally had nothing to do with. And yeah, Im happy to call out your stupidity again, and again, and again. You've got a niche for it. Your mother has more to do with the problems at the Copa America finals than MLS does. And I have emphatically said, and never waivered, that we should not be hosting a tournament like that ever again if COMNEBOL is allowed to do that again. And frankly, if it isnt a 50/50 enterprise at bare minimum next time where they have absolutely zero control or say in logistics, ticketing, or security, they can kick rocks. That was as close to being Hillsboro 2.0 as you could possibly get without it actually being Hillsboro 2.0, and yes, I freely admit, we should never be proponents of allowing such a thing ever again. and COMNEBOL needs some serious time to think over what they did this time before coming back again. I am absolutely stunned at the ineptitude they displayed. And you're sitting here talking about the "passion" of the fans and how we should be looking to replicate that? Yeah get over yourself. Dont care.
Sure, if it discourages those idiots like at the Copa America. MLS has nothing to do with the topic, though, so once again you’re in the wrong place to indulge your obsession.
