Nope. She's totally barking up the wrong tree if she thinks she still has a dog in that fight. Consider her chances DOA.
The Constitution does not say when the candidates must establish their residency, so Donalds could run for vice president and House, and if Trump wins, Donalds could resign from the House and change his residency before the electors vote. Moving on short notice could be hard for most people, but politicians have more money than average people, and there would be plenty of Republicans around the country who owned homes or apartments that would help him move quickly. That might have been true a year ago, but Burgum was in debates. I think more Americans saw him on TV than have seen some possibilities who did not run like Carson, Noem, Donalds, Vance, and Stefanik. If Trump wants somebody who is as famous as possible, Scott could be the choice. He is somebody who won a state with more people than states won by Burgum (ND), Noem (SD), and Sanders (AR), and he has more experience in the Senate than Vance. Here is math I did. The president and vice president each need 270 electoral votes to win without help from Congress, but the Constitution does not say that it has to be from the same 270 ballots. If Trump wins at least 300, he could win without Florida's 30. If Trump wins with 285 to 299, half (15) of Florida's electors could vote for Trump but not Rubio, and half could vote for Rubio but not Trump, so both of them get at least 270. Electors vote after all states have cerified their results, so they vote after it is known how many electoral votes everybody will get if there are no faithless electors. Republicans will probably gain the Senate, and if Trump wins without Republicans gaining the Senate, then probably at least five states will have voted differently for president and senator. If Trump wins with 270 to 284, and Republicans gain the Senate, Florida's electors could vote for Trump but not Rubio, and let the Senate pick Rubio. It would delay the transition if the president is picked by the House, but I do not think it is as important for the vice president to be picked before Congress counts electoral votes on January 6.
Who would actually enforce the rule? The Republican-controlled House? The Republican-controlled Senate? The Supreme Court? Republicans believe laws are meant to be broken. If it's not enforced they won't give a damn. And they are certainly not going to enforce it.
According to the GOP's 2016 theory, the Vice President (i.e., Kamala Harris) is the one who enforces the rules.
Yeah, Lily Tomlin really added to the show. I was more Sam Seaborn (Rob Lowe) and Josh Lyman (Bradley Whitford).
Unfortunately, somebody from the right had to disagree. Former RNC Chair Blasts Byron Donalds' Jim Crow Remarks: 'Stop This Crap' (msn.com) It's Michael Steele, so not really anyone of note. The White Reeps haven't disagreed with him that I know of. No, Donalds needs to keep talking. We need for the country to see every conservative Black man as a traitor to his own race and to his country, which did away with Jim Crow as an official policy before he was born. We also need for the voters to correctly identify conservatism with America's ugly(er) past. If they decide POCs don't matter, at least we'll be done with the formalities.
Until confirmation I'm going on the assumption it is fake, but my brother just forwarded something from what appears to be the FEC website suggesting Michael Flynn will be the felonious fascist's VP. Again, I'm assuming it's fake until confirmed. I'm mentioning it in case someone here has better info regarding its validity. My brother isn't always the most reliable source.
https://newrepublic.com/post/183458/michael-flynn-addresses-speculation-trump-vice-president Many on the internet started to run with the news, fearful that the former president had enlisted the QAnon-pushing conspiracy theorist to help him reclaim the White House. Fortunately for the fate of the free world, the filing was beyond phony. The original document is not found on the FEC’s website, but on a webpage with a URL ending with upstract.com, which is a news aggregator website. It’s not clear that the website is actually associated with the document. But what is clear is that the whole thing is a moneymaking hoax.
Bump. Fox News confirmed today is the day Trump will announce. Shortlist is basically Vance, Bergum and Rubio. Seems like JD has the inside track though.
Oh. It's Vance. 1) He's rich. Largely because, 2) he has access to Peter Thiel's money, both of which are due to 3) He has no moral fiber whatsoever, and will be as pliable as he needs to be. Plus, the Trump Vance logo will be a quick adaptation of the Trump Pence logo.
