Technically, it's in the Constitution* but this Supreme Court just makes things up according to political directive so it would probably be OK, just this once. *"The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves"
It’s in the Constitution actually. In 1980, for 24-48 hours, there was talk of a Reagan-Ford unity ticket. One of the issues was that Ford had moved to Cali after his presidency, so he would have had to reestablish residency in Michigan. In the case of Trump, he could easily relocate his residence to NJ or NY. Probably not the latter because of the conviction. It’ll be awesome if a Trump makes Donalds literally resign his House seat so Donalds can establish residency elsewhere, and then Trump loses. ETTD in action, that would be.
Let me pretend to be certain members of the SC and interpret what the Constitution actually* says: Step 1, argue that pairs of commas indicate an inserted clause that interrupts the main thought to provide additional information. Thus, let's strike through those insertions to get to the core of the statement: "The Electors shall meet in their respective states, and vote by ballot for President and Vice-President, one of whom, at least, shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves" Giving us: "The Electors shall meet in their respective states, one of whom shall not be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves" Step 2, argue that it is clearly talking about the electors who shouldn't be an inhabitant of the same state with themselves, but since we have multiple states voting, all is well. Step 3, declare the Pres and VP can come from the same state as clearly indicated by a literal reading of the Constitution. *by which I mean how to make it say what the orange felon wants it to say
Look at where they're from. As somebody else said, Stefanik is an Upstate 9. Huckabee seems to have all her teeth, which counts for a lot in Arkansas, I'm sure.
So it sounds like Florida couldn't vote for them, but the other states could? Could Florida vote for the orange baboon for president and somebody else for vice president?
Stefanik is maybe a 9 in Saranac, probably a 7. And as a current resident of Western New York / Buffalo I assure you it may not be New York City but our taste and talent here is quality enough that she is maybe a 4.
I'm quite sure there are plenty of people out there who find Sanders, Stephanik, and/or MTG attractive. This is my reminder to not be sexist. They are the greatest assholes of the Asshole Clan. No need to get into their appearance. And because so many of you get triggered, I have the same stance towards all women, everywhere.
I found it interesting that three African-Americans were included - a clear sign they are wanting to increase support among that demographic. But do they have a legitimate shot? I'm skeptical. (I just looked it up and Tim Scott is "scheduled" to get married sometime between the convention and election). But when all is said and done, will the orange idiot really tolerate having a black running mate even if it benefits him? Would his base really want a black man to become president if something (un)fortunate happens to the orange idiot? I don't think so. Doug Burgum to me doesn't bring much to the table, being from North Dakota. How does his inclusion increase the orange idiot's chance of winning? Lil' Marco Rubio - I don't think so. He once ran against the orange idiot and had spats with him. This is the orange idiot's opportunity to further humiliate him by getting him to lick his soiled diaper before dropping him. (Think Romney being "considered" for a cabinet position in 2016, or whenever that was.) Elise Stefanik is more valuable to the orange idiot in the House than on the ticket. JD Vance is best buds with Jr and from a big enough state in the Great Lakes region. In my mind he is the frontrunner.
If Scott is picked, it’ll be interesting if he takes his wife in the campaign trail. If he does, to me, that would be a weird sign of progress. It would show that the pollsters and such believe having Scott campaign with a white wife won’t hurt the ticket. We’ll see. Counterfactuals can’t be proven, but I’ve long believed that if Obama had married a white woman, he never would have gotten the support in South Carolina that he did. He never would have been nominated.
Having those guys "under consideration" is his way of playing the "See, I'm not a racist, I have several Black friends..." card. Just like a lot of the "Blacks for Trump" people were paid actors. Nobody's ever heard of him and he's going to win there anyway, so what's the point? At least he didn't kill any pets (at least that we know of) Yeah, Lil Marco is delusional if he thinks he'll get picked, even if he grovels Ted Cruz style. Everything about Trump is based on revenge and personal loyalty He still needs some attack dogs to carry his water. Boebert might not get re elected and MTG is such a nutjob that even people in her own party are getting sick of her antics. You're probably right about this, especially since it's all about loyalty. Just like the Cultural Revolution in China where the Minister of Agriculture was a guy from the city, but he could quote from Chairman Mao's Little Red Book left, right, and sideways.
No, he’s predicting the actions of a racist who is trying to appeal to racists. He may be right or he may be wrong but he didn’t say what you said he said. RIF
It's a ruse. He is not actually going to pick a Black man as his veep just to "prove" he's not a racist. His base would never stand for it. But that's not to say he won't trot out Tim Scott or Kanye or some other token to speak at some select (urban) event, because he thinks it will help him with Black voters.
They're where they are because they've been doing that for the bulk of their adult lives, if not longer. You don't suddenly become Tim Scott after decades of being a Black man. A lot of these people grow up in a pit of religious conservatism (think Herschel Walker's hometown of Wroghtsville, GA But I'm so glad to finally hear it said plain. You have no idea how many people have stammered or shouted thru some version of "We're past that" over the last few decades. We never were, but there have been periods where conservatives were afraid to display their bloodlust. The other things is, he needs to get conservatives to see themselves in him and vote for him. If he doesn't win in November, he will be in some deep financial trouble for the foreseeable future. He can't make them see themselves in his houses and cars and on the golf course, but they can see themselves in his comments about Black folks.
But hear me out,we can change the Constitution to change the title of Vice President to Butler and put the Presidents son in the line of succession in his place! -Vance Calhoun,Lecturer,Unconstitutional Law,Hillsdale Extension College.
