so I was looking through the conmebol.com site and i saw a buttload of cups i'm not clear on where they stand... maybe you could tell me what was different about each cup, who participated, why its no longer played or what cup it got turned into or what....

I know what some are but if you could fill in the blanks with a Euro equivalent or with who played it and why? that'd be great!

Copa Europea / Sudamericana = Intercontinental Cup
Copa Toyota Libertadores = Champions League
Copa Nissan Sudamericana = UEFA Cup
Recopa Sudamericana = European Super Cup?
Copa Interamericana = Concacaf Champions Cup champ vs Copa Lib champ?
    Copa Mercosur =???
Copa Merconorte =??? i know chivas got killed here once but wtf was it??
Copa Conmebol =Never heard of it, is it like Intertoto Cup or something???
    Supercopa =????

Merconorte was played by teams from the northern part of south America...same with Mercosur but the obvious difference..they untied and made the Sudamericana.

the Copa Interamericana? holy crap, robin!!
in 1998, i remember watching dc united of MLS beat vasco da gama for the title...but if I recall correctly, vasco didn't take it too serious.

as for the Copa Conmebol, if my memory serves me right, that crap began in '92 with atletico mineiro winning it first. I think it ended in like '99.
conmebol's criminal directors wanted to restructure all these stupid a$$ tourneys.

solo quedan 2: copa Libertadores y copa suramericana

looks like it, I like the team and don't wish to see them in "La B" but Ángel (clubs highest stake holder) is a d1ck, that's why that team is horrible.......but that's where Bermudez, O. Cordoba, Edixon Perea, Rodallega, Wipipi (Goleador en Ecuador), and some others fairly important players got their beginnings.
