Thomas? Yes, of course. Hansi was "okay" on the highest level, really good, but not THE world beater. Not at the same level as the younger Schuster and Matthäus. Thomas might be a different beast. This kid has an unbelievable nose for space and time... mülleresk. Hoeneß forced Gerd Müller to start working for Bayern, when Gerd was close to a life under the bridge. That's the most disgusting thing about Uli Hoeneß: You want to hate him, and have to ignore that he really cares about other people, and actually helps them. Well, in the end he's still Uli Hoeneß. And Gerd Müller probably won't coach Freddy Adu.
Benno was also quite a decent player back in the day, though I guess his managerial career has been somewhat checkered.

If Freddy doesn't make the team, then I am pretty sure we can say he is terrible. This is the 2nd division in germany for a pretty bad team.
Pretty sure it was Rogers and Hammerstein . . . [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqnmm698qlU&feature=related"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oqnmm698qlU&feature=related[/ame] I suspect Bon might still be sleeping it off . . .
Standings wise the team is a bad but in actuality the team does have a decent collection of players and should not be where they are despite being a promotion team. The problem is Ingolstadt are pretty lethartgic on the attack. They've had numerous 1-0. 2-1 games in which were "in the game" and if they created/finished chances it would be a different story. But then again many teams can say that as well!! Inglostadt's defense is decent and has settled in despite getting thumped early in the season 4-1 to Augsburg and Duisburg and 3-0 to Dusseldorf, two of tgose clubs are in the promotion hunt. I wouldn't necessarily say Inglostadt are terrible per se. There is just a great deal of parity in the 2nd Bundesliga and they find themselves second from bottom for a several reasons. Reasons are mostly due to the lack of attacking options. Yes, they have 12 points but the season is far from over and positions 13-18 in the table are pretty log jammed. A good point streak after the break could see them get out the relegation zone. Inglostadt are trying and they are really looking to spruce their attack in the transfer window. I'm optimistic here and think that if Adu is fit and is willing to play "team ball" ---- i.e. train his ass off and assert himself into the team, then he can win himself a deal and help Inglostadt.
randers and sion are worse teams and he didn't make them. so we know he's worse than terrible. or we know it's all about the benjamins. or a combination of the two.
Why all the Freddy hate? Perhaps his lack of success is directly related to these type of exaggerated expectations. Many, many players of greater ability also never settle in to clubs. Maybe he has really bad agents working for him and are connecting him wig the wrong teams. Maybe the hype and associated salary have helped create this atmosphere that follows him. Having watched him in the US and abroad one thing is clear: he does not suck....but he is not the "savior" player some clubs want him to be. Can we leave the boy alone and leave him in peace to develop? His biggest mistake was not going to a European academy like Bobby Wood did and allowing himself to develop hype-free. But those advising him did not want that, neither did MLS. If he is a disappointment there are MANY who share in that. If he finds the right club and settles in and THEN flops miserably, then maybe some of these bad vibes are warranted.
i'm not sure about other cultures but too many americans live their lives through athletes and other lumineries. an anthropologist or perhaps a psychiatrist could use adu threads as source material for a paper. when posters bump up against their adu thread post limit to say variations on 'adu sucks' there you go. as for the academy issue his mother didn't want him going overseas. biggest issue was signing with benfica instead of a smaller rostered club that would take more interest in his development. michael bradley, charlie davies, and altidore chose wisely.
That's already happened. He's looking for his 7th club since 2006. (DC, RSL, Benfica, Monaco, Belenenses, Aris................who's next?) I wouldn't say it's "Freddy hate." I think many posters simply have a serious case of Freddy fatigue.
strong point, but Adu's career has always been like this... he and his team have not managed it properly at all... he should really come back to MLS now, and find his way, even if its on the bench
Adu is going to milk his Benfica contract to the last euro. And I can't blame him at all. One bad tackle could end a pro soccer career.
he certainly didn't flop at all of those clubs. and adu doesn't get the coverage in the media to induce 'fatigue'. he's not tim tebow at florida. he's not even donovan or bradley level in puff pieces.
they largely managed the career of a chil prodigy who was on nice contracts and endorsements.he made his cheddar. now he can focus solely on development.
Looks like Freddy played 30 minutes today: http://www.fcingolstadt.de/index.php?id=7&tx_ttnews[tt_news]=3718&cHash=dfca0f2ff0f0554a900c9c78010efd53 I think it says that he set up a guy near the six, but the teammate missed from close range. Still not sure how Adu could possibly move to Ingolstadt (contractually speaking) even if they are interested.
Yeah I wonder how things would've turned out if his mother had allowed him to go to Milan when he was 8 or so. I don't think he'd be starting or likely even playing for them now, but I bet his career would be much different to this point. Hopefully he can turn things around, he's still got time to become a solid pro.
