he wouldn't have to buy out his contract. benfica would let him go for free, but he doesn't want that as no one would pay him nearly as much as benfica have to. here's how i thought it could work out. let's say his benfica salary is 1 mil a year and that aris were covering 200 000 of that in the last year. that would mean aris still have to pay him 100 000 for the next six months. if ingolstadt are willing to pay him 100 000 for a half season, the deal would be done. if that's to much for them, adu could give up on the difference. benfica would still pay him 400 000 for half a season. nothing would change for them.
This might be a stupid question, but what do they likely mean by that? That they view Adu as a penalty box striker? Or is it a Scion like quote, signalling that they want a different kind of attacker than Adu?
Fwiw, the headline of an older article about a current competitor for the slot Freddy's auditioning for: "Morten Rasmussen says: I'm a penalty box striker" http://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/footba...nish-striker-morten-rasmussen-86908-21996288/
Great start! As the last thread titleholder, I voted for this thread's winner. We're so desperate for new puns that we are using other languages. Excellent!
A Strafraumstürmer is someone in the mix of Klose, van Nistelrooy, Toni, Batistuta, Romario. I really doubt they could confuse Adu with a Strafraumstürmer. The report says they would like to get two new strikers for almost no money, and focuses on 1860's Benny Lauth as supporting striker and a last minute deal if 1860 have to let players go for free; the priority is the #9 type striker, the supporting striker the addition. Sounds like somebody called them if Adu was allowed to join the camp and they didn't object, rather than "we want a player like Adu".
Their sport director is currently running all over the place looking for a striker. Their coach has said, given his current roster, he needs a "penalty box striker" (aka, target striker or holding striker). He (the coach) said he needs someone who can hold the ball, score, make his own chances as well as lay off for the midfield. No, I doubt any sane person would see Adu as such a striker.
Right. And the coach and sport director even said that Lauth may not work because then he would have TWO strikers who "need a lot of room and don't defend that well". I think they are honestly looking at Adu for a recessed attacking role.
I think they know he is not a target striker. I also think they know he would be too $$$ for them as well.
In an alternate universe, a "2 for 1" New Year's Special has taken place: One #9 and one #10 in search of regular playing time, available on loan until the end of the season. Wonder what the over/under would be on the number of posts in an Altidore/Adu gameday thread.
Based on my open net miss last night, I'm going with me. No, and please consider changing your name because every time I see it I think of an extremely unpleasant message board phenomenon. (Don't ask.)
He was not fat until he hit Tampa Bay. Besides, with HIS nose for goal who would care what he looked like.
Actually, it was Ft. Lauderdale. For sure if he could get his foot on the ball in the box, I have never seen anything like it before or since . . .
Arguably the deadliest finisher who ever entered a soccer field. Maybe that's the reason why Hoeneß and Gerland didn't want Donovan to play for the Bayern reserves; he would have got Gerd Müller's striker coaching. So der Bomber focused on Thomas Müller instead, and he became the best Müller since Müller. Okay, back to topic. Adu. Should be mentioned that Gerd became an alcoholic before his friend Hoeneß pulled him out of a sewer, and forced him to work for him.
