Bring a toothbrush and your own cup, because I am not making out with you until you brush your teeth. I know a lot of you probably consider yourselves more casual observers at this point..much less fans...much less "supporters". I'm not asking you to support the team or even the "club" as it currently is. But I am going to ask you to take a moment and consider why you once did, and what it was for you. For myself, it was never about the team specifically. I mean, yes, there have been players I liked and disliked, and I reveled or railed against them as tides turned, just like any fan. And it was never just about Section 8. Section 8, to me, was just a group of people that I knew and loved. Not as an organization, but simply as the people I met. It didn't occur to me to ask if they were Barnburners or Ultras98 or WB05 or ShandySisters or Husaria or whatever the hell now... At the time, I just stuck my hand in, and asked, "What can I do to help?" And shit happened from there. In one sense maybe I'm a little bit spoiled because that was almost all road trips, but the more I think about it, the more I cherish those moments of seeing people acting ridiculously clannish and obsessed and defiant, and feeling those things right along with them. And even at the time, I had a different role to play, because it was way long gone since I was a 19 year old sneaking whiskey or a flare into the stadium...but I had a bond with the ones who were. Right now, Section 8's website (and social media presence, to be perfectly honest) is literally worse than dog poop. But, if they won't act like section8, I will. All by myself, I will be section 8. I might call it something else though... Maybe it's time for WSOAB to become real? I don't care...call it Fire Fans United, or Section 8.1, or The Nelson Rodriguez Reunion Tour. I don't give a shit, as long as the right people with the right attitudes are there along with me. I dunno. Alls I'm sayin' is: When you're winning, be proud of that. When you're down a goal, be louder to encourage your team. When you're going to lose, be even louder than that, to show you have faith in the future. That you are better than them. You don't live in Columbus after all. But seriously, I have 20 gallons of beer, wine, and liquor...just in case you find yourself in Columbus. ~YiS
