AMSTERDAM - Ajax have contracted Wesley Sneijder for a long time. The almost 19 year-old has signed a contract til 2007.

Sneijder made his debut in Ajax 1 this season. His strong performance in the Champions League and the competition in the Amsterdam team gave hime a place in Orange u23 and the Dutch national team.
He made his NT debut in the friendly against Portugal. in fifteen Eredivisie games he scored 4 times.
Technical director Leo Beenhakker is very hapy with the new agreement. "Sneijder is another big talent from our own youth academy. it's fantastic for the club that we have contracted him until 2007. In the past many had the idea that Ajax was building players for other teams. In the changing footballmarket Ajax is now succeeding in binding talents to the club. That is a very positive development."

    You just named them....

    ...plus a few more...

In retrospect, this is exciting time indeed for Ajax supporters.
Don't be surprised to hear that as well, from other Ajacieds, despite not winning any trophies this year. Still, we weed to win the remaining two matches, AND win the playoff to qualify for CL next season.

But I am very keen for the future. There seems to be a good handful of potential "stars" on verge of something big. The competition for places will be intense. The quality of play will only improve and consistency will be much more stable. The depth of talent is deep...so much so quality players such as Hersi, America-Fronio and Mendes had to be let go (also because the team is trying to trim its player contracts).

Who are the future stars ?
They may be Krohn-Dehli, Babel, Kujala, de Ridder, Boukhari, and perhaps a few others.
The taxi driver is (was) jamal Akachar; haven't seen him play - but I don't think he is top material.

We were 90 seconds away from a victory at San Siro (AFCA will be able to tell us more of that painful experience...[IMG] )

And everyone in A'dam believes that we would have beaten Inter in the semis HAD we made it past Milan AC in the quarters.

Yes, we were that close to the CL final in Manchester.

I can't wait till next season - but let's focus this weekend at Enschede first !!

That'll be a tough enough game.

Akachar is good, for what I've seen from him.
And another promising player: Mullem van Moppes
He is said to be a very great prospect, altough I know very little about him.
