I'm ready to make my pick, but what am I supposed to do?

If tjh71 would want back in, I'd want him to have the spot he earned back. Should I wait or should I go ahead and post? let me know squad

I am not the decider but I think we sit tight. See if Tony wants to join up in his morning. Lights are out in Australia. Pick it up in the evening on this side of the pond. We just have one player in the UK who is or First draft pick so it would be their Saturday too.

I also would like to give Tony the chance to reconsider.

I'm butting in just a little.

First I don't remember any particular plan that the three leagues organized their draft starts in any particular way. I think it had to do more with small being prepared to start first and Sand often scrambling for a full set of teams that delayed their drafting. Small chose Aug 7 (which is fine) but the others agreed to earlier dates simply because we were ready to get started and didn't want to risk running out of time.

I hope Tony stays but I get his POV. He is a good player with a busy life. Once the draft is over there is still 99% of the season to go and I don't think the time zone issue is relevant anymore. I really enjoy the international flavor of the leagues and hate to see that compromised.

II have no argument with creating and executing good communication pathways. We all lead diverse lives, some more hectic or unpredictable than others. I can't imagine any of us need a sleep and bathroom schedule designed for them. Sorry to see Keyser go:thumbsdown:.

I don't know Dizzy, but I liked his first post and expressing willingness to wait to allow Tony to reconsider.

I also agree with giving Tony a chance to reconsider. Let's see what happens. According to his explanations, he has a soccer game at 910 his time, which means he should be up by 7-8 AM or 5-6 PM EDT, 2-3 hours from now. Let's give him an opportunity to log in before he goes to his soccer game and express his wishes, hopefully reconsidering. If nothing is heard by 7 PM tonight, EDT, I suggest we press ahead with the draft with Dizzy replacing Tony.

Has anyone been in contact with Tony? Is he even aware that we were giving time for him to reconsider?

Unfortunately, we don't know if he knows. DrH suggested he might reconsider but we're now in limbo. And he's coaching his game now. Thoughts?

Bob is on UK time, so we're only going a few picks when we start anyway....

I'll go to bed early tonight. It's 8 40 PM here. I'll be up several times tonight and check in here, but I presume we won't hear from Tony in the next couple of hours. No point in starting anything tonight. That said. call me if Tony reconsiders and makes a pick. I'll get up and make mine.

Should we wait until @DrHeckle surfaces and see if he has any additional info?

The upside is my drone and operative surveillance team has more time to "borrow" Sasha's research and pick list.

Is your HQ also planning to send Nkunku back to Chicago to injure him again too? Forgot where that friendly was but remember it was a few days after a concert...

Also, who is enjoying the VSR penthouse now that we have both vacated the premises?
Actually, I never make it two seasons in Small Rocks. Will call my interior designer ASAP

No matter what happens, I think good communication and positive interaction going forward can help us stay on track and in good spirits. I'll admit, being on deck to pick for hours on end without any indication of when that may come forced me to check in regularly during the conceivable "non-sleeping" hours, which felt like wasted time. I would have been happy to step away for the whole day if I had known. Going forward, with or without Tony, I feel that:
    • If we have certain standards of communication or expectations of manager activity for the draft, these should be clearly spelled out. Many of us have played together in various leagues for years, so we probably assume we are all on the same page, but that likely isn't always the case
    • There should be some expectation of letting others know if you will be out of touch for a lengthy period of time. To me it is as simple as posting on the draft discussion thread. We all (hopefully :D) have a semblance of a life outside of this draft, and if it is going to move slow, let's all show each other the courtesy of communicating as such and that should suffice.
I don't mind it going slow or fast. For me the draft is my favorite time of the season. I pretty much stink at being the first to claim newly added players, and perpetually finish middle of the pack no matter what I try, but the draft has always been fun and keeps me coming back the next year. Hopefully Tony comes back and we all laugh a little and move forward, but either way let's get on with it and enjoy.

In the spirit of communicating, I should mention that I have 4 soccer games to coach tomorrow and am going to call it a night tonight. There are pretty reasonably spread out throughout the day, so I should be able to check in semi-regularly and can just make my pick on my phone. I may need a little help with formatting and the google doc, but I'll do everything I can to keep things rolling. I won't be a great option for anyone who needs help with proxy picks though.

ohh no, no, no, I am as interested in Nkunku's good health as anyone, our front 3-4 could be quite good, it is the crap behind them which might be the big issue. Safely back in England with one last friendly against Inter.

Not sure about the sublet on the VSR Penthouse, our realtor is busy filming Selling Chatsworth

Well I should be around all day tomorrow and ready to pick when I awake, and can take proxy's if needed.

Between 12-3:40pm down under now so hopefully Tony decides to stay before his bedtime, but if not I guess that will be his answer

Here's some clarity for you all. I could not return. It takes a lot to piss me off. So when that happened I made a hard decision. And I am a man of my word, so that sticks. All the apologies mean nothing when people can't even see an issue with what they said and how they said it. Through this process I saw character traits of both Hal and Trav that I didn't like. I have no issue with anyone else in this group. I thought if anyone was going to piss me off that much, it would have been blech. But he has been very thoughtful and tried his best to help through all this. Cheers mate.
Hal - you were condescending and narcissistic in your approach to me not polite as you suggested. To suggest I set an alarm at 3am to get up and make a pick was offensive. I am not of the geriatric age that I need to wake up multiple times in the night to pee. Therefore this would impact on my life negatively and suggesting this shows very controlling tendencies. And the fact that only 6 minutes after I announced I was out, your response was "when can Dizzy be ready" just shows you don't care about anyone other than your precious draft.
Trav - I can't believe you went for a 24 hour rule, which nobody has heard of, after there was about 16 hours between my picks with 8 other picks in between that time frame. A couple of seasons ago we waited nearly 3 days for someone who went AWOL.
I just feel that getting an outsider into the top league has put a few noses out of joint and I have felt some negative vibes and bias opinion towards me in the last 2 years. So time for me to move on.
I hope this clears this up

This decision and my thoughts here were all my own. I hope this doesn't impact negatively on my friends within All Rocks as I have and will always operate independently.

You will always be welcome in my world, I am sorry I am so bad at this these days that I am in Sand , but at least we have fun and we do not think that the FPL draft should rule one’s life . We will of course still chat as always at 1_am on Sat nights, yes all to you other worlders that is what time EPL is on on this part of the world …. that is dedication , so sad you all could not see it
