I'll be prepared to make my first pick while at my Family Reunion on July 29th or 30th, whatever gets chosen as our start time. I'll leave it to Glorydaze to freeze the roster when we start and add it to the Draft Worksheet.

I can't see a forum on the Premier League site.

Hey everyone, I noticed that the Premier League Fantasy site is back up! Anyone here big into PL Fantasy? As of late, it seems to have become monotonous since by the end of the season everyone usually ends up with the same players. Has anyone tried a draft fantasy epl league? Meaning that there's a snake draft so only one person can have Özil for example. Seems like a better format. One site I've found is Togga, anyone played draft fantasy on their site?

I think we are overthinking the obvious.

Drafting is always a challenge, but is often the best part of the season; so just enjoy it. Trying to predict who will be on when never really works; even with those in the same time zone.

According to the above statement, only picks 6, 7, 8 (in odd rounds) should be a walk in the park. I bet it won't be.

In my thinking Top Shelf could pick in the evening (local time) and I would pick in the morning (my time).

I go out and enjoy the day, then Glorydaze picks when he gets up.

The snake gets back to me sometime during the day (no rush) and I bite its head off in the evening.

Bingo - Two picks in a day.

Draft done in a week, no worries.

I'd have to stand on my head to work out how it affects things Down Under but with what looks like a 12 hour swing to the United States, I don't see a problem there at all.

We play in a 32 team draft league using the FPL site. All Rocks league, 4 divisions. See our 2016-17 organizing thread.

Kudos in advance for the managers to really read this post and assess the efficacy of the notional draft sequence and perhaps offer suggestions for improvements.

Notwithstanding Michel's happy with doing 2 rounds per day, one in the morning and one in the evening, I've always felt that working together we can do 2, 3, and even 4 rounds per day. I know for sure that when it's my turn, I'll quickly make my picks and send it right back to Raurie.

Here is my suggestion for timing for the Round 1 picks. This notional draft sequence would get us into Round 4 picks until we had gaps for Michel and Raurie sleeping.

Here's the local times assuming the draft starts at 7AM local MDT time. I picked 7 AM MDT as a best fit so that Raurie wouldn't have to stay up past 12:30 AM local time to get in his first three picks and we would get through Pick 4-4 before Michel went to bed. That way the draft would be back to him for his Round 5 pick when he woke up.

Our Round 1 Picks should typically go fast as everyone grabs their Captain, assume 10 minutes per pick on ave.)

Starting at 7 AM MDT = 9 PM WAUS = 8 AM CDT = 9 AM EDT = 3 PM CET Starting at 7 AM MDT allows us three hours to get in picks through Round 3-2 and 12:30 AM before Raurie goes to bed and through Pick 4-4 before Michel goes to bed. We'd have gaps in Round 4 until managers woke up and continued the draft.

    1-1. Aviators (GMT -6 (initially until 8/3) 7 AM MDT 7/30
1-2. Muppets (GMT +8) 9:10 PM WAUS (Not sure whether this is a day ahead or behind with the International Date Line)
1-3 St. Pauli (GMT -5) 8:20 AM CDT
1-4 Shelf (GMT -4 initially until 8/2) 9:30 AM EDT
    1-5 Michel (GMT +2) 3:40 PM CET
    1-6 Paul (GMT -4) 9:50 AM EDT
    1-7 Bob (GMT -4) 10:00 AM EDT
    1-8 Lobo (GMT -6) 8:10 AM MDT

Round 2 lets assume 15 min per pick in round 2

    2-1 8:25 AM MDT
    2-2 10:40 AM EDT
    2-3 10:55 AM EDT
    2-4 5:10 PM CET
    2-5 11:25 AM EDT
    2-6 10:40 AM CDT
    2-7 11:55 PM WAUS
    2-8 10:10 AM MDT

With a quick 5 min turnaround here's what Round 3 might look like, then back to 15 min per pick

    3-1 10:15 AM MDT
3-2 12:30 AM WAUS then Raurie goes to bed
    3-3 11:45 AM CDT
    3-4 1:00 PM EDT
    3-5 7:15 PM CET
    3-6 1:30 PM EDT
    3-7 1:45 PM EDT
    3-8 Noon MDT

    And Round 4

    4-1 12:15 PM MDT
    4-2 2:30 PM EDT
    4-3 2:45 PM EDT
4-4 9:00 PM CET Then Michel can go to bed
    4-5 3:15 PM EDT
4-6 2:30 PM CDT (Gap until next pick when Raurie gets up and reviews all picks made while he was asleep)
4-7 7:30 AM WAUS Assume he can make his pick by 7:30 AM WAUS time = 5:30 PM MDT
    4-8 5:45 PM MDT

    Round 5

    5-1 6 PM MDT
    5-2 8:15 AM WAUS
    5-3 7:30 PM CDT
5-4 8:45 PM EDT (This is 2:45 AM CET and Michel should still be asleep
5-5 7:30 AM CET This is 1:30 AM for EDT so after Michel picks, we'll await the American Managers to wake)
    5-6 7:30 AM EDT
5-7 7:45 AM EDT letting lobo get up and catch up on picks while he was sleeping
    5-8 7:30 AM MDT

    The obvious challenges are:

Picks 1-2-3 in Odd numbered rounds and 6-7-8 for Even numbered rounds as we deal with connecting with Sonabert in Australia.

Picks 4-5-6 in Odd Numbered rounds and Picks 3-4-5 in even numbered rounds as we deal with connecting with 1800-WorldCup in Europe.

Small Rocks Draft Order for Odd Numbered Rounds
    Pick # Team Name
    1 Aviators (MDT or GMT -6 7/30 - 8/3; then EDT GMT -4)
2 WhataBunchofMuppets! (WAUS or GMT +8)
3 FC St. Pauli (CDT or GMT -5)
    4 Top Shelf (EDT GMT -4 7/26 - 8/2; then MDT GMT -6)
5 Kemenes Kempinski (CET GMT +2)
    6 Glorydaze (EDT GMT -4)
7 Real Newark (EDT GMT -4)
8 ColdDogSoup FC (MDT GMT -6)

Small Rocks Draft Order for Even Numbered Rounds
    Pick # Team Name
    1 ColdDogSoup FC
    2 Real Newark
    3 Glorydaze
    4 Kemenes Kempinski

I'm always happy with two picks a day but we usually do more. ;)

Australia are ahead of us in time but 9pm Perth time would be the same day. The International dateline is further east; wiggling its way down the Pacific Ocean between Wake Island and Midway.

At the moment it's 06.57 (breakfast) here and 12.57 (lunch) in Perth.

The bars are closed in New York (00.57am), and it's still yesterday on the West Coast of America (21.57).

Thanks Glorydaze, was really confused. Sounds interesting, but a little complicated. Looking to have a site actually host the site for me. I came across http://playtogga.com/ looks like a great option. Anyone used this or heard of it?

What? No Forum! I have been away for awhile and frankly don't remember where it was on the old site, so I can't verify, but ISN'T THAT A KILLER for this approach?

Not sure where to find the roster to freeze in the format we have typically used. Please let me know if you have found a roster we can can copy and how I freeze it. I haven't been through that process before.

Can't seem to find a forum anywhere or have I found anyone has mentioned it appears to be gone. I would think we could set up an official trade forum thread here if FPL has discontinued theirs.

I could do the first 2 if it runs on time but for the sake of my ears & the oncoming season, I doubt if I will be able to do the 12:10am slot without causing grief to dear wifey. I can always leave a couple of proxies with someone, if we can get me a person based in the USA, that will then speed it up all round as I could give them a list of 10+ names.

Hal & I could always swap , so my 2 picks are together , saving Hal waiting on me ? I have a good idea who my first pick is , so if Hal was going to go different it wouldn't make much difference swapping.

I did a draft order swap once, to get position 8.

Hal still has to wait fo you to pick, just you don't have to wait for Hal to be online.

Reminder that I will be gone beginning the afternoon of August 5th until the night of August 8th. The more of the draft we can go through that week, the better for me. I'm usually in the "let's not freak out about speed of the draft and relax" camp but this year I would vote for anything that will speed things up.

Well, we can..... but the team name is not a link, so you can click as long as you like.

    Not being funny
, but rather than trying to get the draft done in one sitting with military precision - that never goes according to plan - you (Hal) could have got the ball rolling with your first pick.... and then we could all have had a laugh and wing it by the seat of our pants.

Surely there's not going to be a new signing that you MUST have.

    Ok. I am being funny.

Not only available in those slots, but those slots are as good as guaranteed; as per usual at this time of year.

Thanks for that. Don't know why I couldn't find it. I am also not too worried about the pace of the draft. We just need to let other managers know when there is going to be an extended time gap so that all managers know. Be nice if the Pogba deal could get done since he will surely shake up the first round and it would eliminate the free for all to land him after the 24 hr post draft period of angst!
