SLU is playing SIUe at Hermann Stadium this Friday.

    Anybody interested in going?

(There will be no tailgate and I believe no booze on premises.)

What makes you think this? The only "dry" SLU games I've been to were NCAA tournament matches.

    I wasn't sure. :)

That's the impression I had from NCAA games...is it only the tourneys that are dry?

I believe rules like that are governed by the home team's conference during the regular season.

I don't know about the A-10, but there is no booze at Big XII games.

Games played on-campus are supposed to be dry at least in terms of sales. That being said, if you are in a corporate tent or an alumni tent, the schools can provide complementary bevarages. Now if a school was to host games at an off-campus facility it is up to the host location. That is the way I have always understood the NCAA mandates.

I have definitely bought beer at SLU games at Hermann Stadium and I've still got the plastic cups to prove it. But I guess the last couple of times I went, it was with my flask-toting friend, so we didn't even check. Maybe the rules have changed.

EDIT: The site for Chaifetz Arena, which is definitely on the campus of SLU and owned by the university, says "Alcohol and beer will be served at most Chaifetz Arena events (including SLU Billiken basketball games)". I don't know why the rules would be different for SLU soccer.

I was just going by the NCAA Frozen Four I attended. I was thinking there were different rules for the SLU basketball games due to their being at the Scotty/Savvis/Kiel.

    I suppose we'll see.
