All paths lead to Rome and we head there hoping to keep our European title aspirations alive.
A massive confidence boosting win V Leeds takes us into the match in good form.

Amazing what having technical, creative players on the pitch can do.

More of it please and let's beat Benfica by a few goals so we can have a comfortable second leg.

    LETS GO ARSENAL!

Benfica are going through a poor season by their standards.

They have their old manager Jorge Jesus back who had led them out of Porto's decade long dominance a few years back.

I’m pretty certain this is going to be on a Spanish language channel in the USA.

Somebody please tell me the away goals rule is going to be suspended for these matches.

No, that would require common-sense logic!

Yes, as would just eliminating it entirely, which is what should happen.

I thought I heard that If Benfica scores on Thursday, then that counts as an away goal for them, too, since they aren't playing at "home." IOW, any goals Benfica scores in either leg count as away goals.

Away goals count. Which is really ********ing dumb. How about we just make every goal equal 2 so we can end with a 10-14 scoreline and really take the piss.

Our only chance at a trophy this season. Let’s go for it. I miss CL so much

As silly as this EPL season has been, we're actually not too far away from contending for this classic Wenger-era trophy... ;)

Partey didn't travel to Rome but Tierney did.

    on Willian...
What he's doing at the moment, the way he's training, the way he's working, the way he's willing to give everything to the team is what I demand. Whether he's more successful or less successful in the game is another matter, it will come with the quality that he has but this is what I demand to every player. A full commitment and to put the passion and everything they have in every training session and when they have the opportunity to play and so far Willian has done that every single day.

    ^Ugh.

I like Arteta but I think @DaPrince84 is right. I get the impression he likes ‘worker bees.’

As in, people who work, sure, but also who do whatever they’re told, don’t question it, and as applies to a professional football club ‘lead’ by echoing the manager in group settings.

If they’re shit on the pitch that’s okay, apparently.

I feel like we put a minimum appearance clause in his contract and we are boned until we flog him off.
Officially a worse signing than Francis Jeffers.

Deleuded manager. The fans want to see results on the pitch, if they ever get back, they'll tell him so.

Hmm. Busy afternoon with Arsenal and a Mars landing. I may have to skip work.

C'mon you Gunners, and let's go NASA!

No changes to the line-up from Leeds. Auba in front of Saka, ESR and Odegaard. Tierney on the bench.

Arsenal a bulk of possession but no major opportunities yet.
