Just because there should be a game thread, especially for a first time matchup. According to the MLS site, SKC is -134 while Nshville is +375. I have no idea what that means. The MLS site also predicts a starting lineup of Salloi, Shelton Russell up top, a triangle of Kinda, Busio and Sanchez and a back line of Dia, Reid, Puncec and Lindsey. They report Zusi out injured, and, of course, Pulido on nats duty. I have no idea on the lineup if they have inside info of if they're winging it. In their first 15 MLS games, Nashville has managed 11 goals. It seems they last scored in September, against Houston on the 26th. Two 0-0 finishes since then. But, you know, they haven't faced Salloi...
Need to rotate at least 1 of the CBs. We're gonna play with fire like we did with Colorado and burn 2 subs in the first half because we're going to play the same lineup again though.
I think you're right, though it's a little frustrating how the schedule is. SKC is finally seeming to land on a CB partnership with some solidity, but we can't build that chemistry as games are coming too thick and fast. Oh well.
So who had Hurtado with a worldie for the winner (and laid on the doubler that his speed would have just about nothing to do with the goal). That should just about cover the weekend in Vegas. Wait, is Vegas even open? Man, this is a sad world. So we are even more thankful for bolts from the boot of Hurtado.
I am trying to think of a better SKC/ Wiz/Wizards goal and I'm drawing a blank. I mean, Nemeths 70 yards twisting turning run and goal was special. The USOC wow goal by the yohan. Someone odd had a 50 yard shot, didn't they? I can recall a lot of wonderful goals by Preki, and some by Mo and Dig, but none that compare to this that I can recall. Is this the best of all time for us? What am I missing?
Zusi had that long free kick against Dallas. Ike biked on the Galaxy. Dom missed every bike he tried.
The long freekick goal from Zusi against Dallas might be the one you are thinking of, and Benny had several highlight reel bangers from outside the box. That said, Hurtado's is right up there with the very best. I've criticized him many times for lack of technical ability and now will eat crow/humble pie.
Feilhaber's outside of the foot shot vs Colorado. Molnar bike vs Tampa in 2000. Diop had a nice lofted volley in 2010. Arnaud vs LA at Arrowhead in 2008. Really for me though it's the Hurtado, Nemeth, and Croizet goals in whichever order you choose and then everything else.
that really was a banger. I think even someone like CR7 would have maybe a 1% chance of making that one. Defensively we looked fairly solid, but against one of the weakest teams offensively. Shelton continues to disappoint. If we could outlaw 90+ weather in the US and especially in KC, JFR would be easily MLS team of the year material. 3 wins in a row!
The Croizet strike is my top goal, for the combined ferocity and accuracy of the strike. I think if he had hit someone with that ball, they would have fallen down dead it was hit so hard.
My ranking after watching these three Thought the link would put the comic up, sorry, have to click: https://dilbert.com/strip/1992-03-16
Wasn't that one voted Goal of the Year? I thought of it but never rated it that highly, for whatever reason.
It was not, at least not the official goal of the year. SKC (wiz/ards) have won goal of the year once, Nemeth's run in 2015. We have, however, had two scored against us, Nagbe and Ianni. '11 and '12. Given that MLS was down to, what, four teams or something like that (okay, more, but a bunch were complete crap and there was no need to score great goals against them, while our defense has always been pretty decent and at times would require a world beater if a goal was to be scored), I would have thought we'd have given up more of those.
