Historically, we are 13 W 24 L and 11 D against the Fire. We've won thrice, in 2o League matches at Toyota Park. Thanks: http://sportingtimes.net/ Chicago is 4W and 1D in their last five League matches, scoring on average more than two goals per game during that time. Chi are six points behind us, with two games in hand. The most underrated soccer player in North America & MLS POTM for March and June, Mike Magee, is back in his native Chicago. As for our part, its tough to tell which SKC team shows up: Good mediocre, average mediocre, or something in between?
We are on a good run, but our back line is really a mess. Your offense can get healthy in a hurry tomorrow. Look for a higher scoring game. We are finally a more dangerous team with Magee, a San Jose team missing 7 starters scored twice against us and could have had more. We also beat Orlando 5-1 in the Open Cup but that scoreline is deceiving as well. We were shaky in the back and OC just didn't capatilize.
Good start, up 2-0 in 9 minutes from Feilhaber and Zusi. Since then have been having to weather the storm. Chicago is coming hard.
There's not much that pisses me off more than watching our defenders raise their hands while an opponent gets a free breakaway. And can we get Kamara off the field please.
Lucky to be up. Nice by benny and what a pretty mistake by zusi. Agree kei looks completely disinterested. Ready to see him and collin on the bench.
I don't care when where or how, it always feels great beating Chicago. Great game and those goals were all amazing! Zusi MOTM. Game winning goal and amazing defensive work.
It's so very, very nice to finish out a game. That was some wild & crazy substituting by Vermes. Wacky, nutty stuff.
That was one of the more frustrating wins recently. Not sure how many times I wanted to yell at Kamara through my TV screen. Putting Zusi in back in the midfield was huge though.
It was a great showing in the stadium by your supporters today, really good crowd. I sit on the opposite side and they were great. Oh, and a terrific shot by Zusi, our defenders were not within 20 yards of us. A player with Zusi's talent has to make the other team pay and he did. You guys deserved the win, unfortunately. We don't often give the "other side" credit, but your crowd was good and Zusi is terrific...almost as good as Mike Magee is for the Fire!
Sure didn't imagine after 10 minutes that there was going to be a fairly nerve-wracking finish to that one!
This was a six pointer. Zusi won possession 12 times today. What a monster. I really enjoyed all the possession, and hearing the ole's from the Cauldron, after our first substitution was made. Subs were kinda odd, but PV tied his hands (or had is hands tied) in midfield before the first kick. What should he do...? Opara for a forward, if he wants to nurse the lead...? These are things that make little sense: 1) Kamara being so disinterested, all day. 2) Defending while waiving one's hand in the air. 3) that challenge by Paladini 4) Starting a match with no real mids on your bench.
Zusi's goal was very very carefree. This Cauldronette, is feeling the carefree as well: https://twitter.com/SportingKC/status/354011427633250305/photo/1 I like it that way.
Kamara took the knock early and just didn't look like Kamara the rest of the game. He took another knock later on and I was surprised he even stayed in the game. I think Peter kept him in there simply for the aerial threat and that's about it. He'll be in the ice bath a lot in the coming week. Good to get the three points in Chicago. Anyone else jealous of not having Magee? Dude is a beast.
Actually, rereading that, I don't think anyone is in particular. The only people who could be jealous of not having Magee are Chicago, and why would they want him gone?
I have always had a problem with grinding my teeth at night, so I wear a guard to protect them. After watching Kei play for the first 15 minutes, I had to put the guard back in my mouth. How did PV allow him to stay on the field? If he is trying to build his brand to get another shot at the EPL or European soccer, this game did not do him any favors. Benny's shot was pure GOTW stuff. Beautiful. The rest of the half, he kind of disappeared, so I was glad to see Soony come in. That changed the entire dynamic of the game and produced a noticeable momentum shift. However, the other subs made me scratch my head. Don't understand them, but they got a result. All I can say is, that as many times as I have gone to Chicago only to come away with a shitty feeling, this one felt really good.
