The goal differential right now is +3 in favor of the forces of evil. If LA can win by 2 or more at the Rose Bowl, then a tie in SJ will be good enough to give LAg the shield and conference championship.
I haven't really been following the LA games since I don't get the MLS shootout so maybe you guys can answer some of my questions. How are the Galaxy playing since you guys beat us in the Open Cup? I am assuming you guys have just been hot... But is it because you guys are hot, lucky? This should be one hell of a game! Has it been the Ruiz show that has gotten you guys here? Are you concerned that tough marking on Ruiz, by any team, can shut down the Galaxy? Are you guys confident that a win should be piece of cake and the game at San Jose the next week will be the real test? Thanks guys.
Team has played mostly well but without Ruiz it would be up the creek without a paddle. No game against SJ is taken lightly or is a piece of cake. We don't like San Jose, but we have to respect the fact that they have accomplished a lot on the field. Besides, there is no honor in beating a patsy - its always better if you can beat a good team, mainly because there is a high risk involved. Every team LA plays tries to mark Ruiz out of the match. There is no secret that he is the major threat LA has. The fact that he leads the league in goals even though he has been the target of double and triple teaming and hacking for months says a lot about how slippery our fish really is.
No doubt about it! Ruiz has been great this year. He probably will and should win the MVP this year. I am sure teams try and mark him up but all it takes for a good player is an inch. You give Ruiz an inch then you had better start fishing...in the back of the net. We gave Ruiz an inch in the last game we played against you and you guys have the win. I don't think we have any suspensions but our main injuries include Troy dayak and Jeff Agoos (still?). Do you guys have a win streak going? Going for three?? Just out of curiousity...has anyone got the three yet? I don't think so unless it came last weekend. Oh wait, I am supposed to be a Galaxy hater! Screw your team!! Stupid Galaxitives!! j/k Good luck this weekend in what should be a great game! I am not going to post in a while. I like this number
Check LA's record without Fish this season. I'm more worried that EZ and 'Lexi are suspended thanks to that crap ref we had in Chicago last week.
It is finally here, it hjink this is a preview of the next MLS champs. It should be a very exiting game and hard fought. THIS IS WHAT I LINVE FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! A great game against a tough, and true rival. The california derby is on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Some Exerpt Predictions !! When asked " who would win MLS Cup 2002 " we got these responses. Bob Bradley, Chicago Fire Head Coach " Yes, Definately.. the Los Angeles Galaxy are the Best team in MLS, they'll win it. " Preki, Kansas City Wizards Forward " The Galaxy are going to win it all. " Phil Jackson, Los Angeles Lakers Head Coach " The Los Angeles Galaxy really know how to use the Triangle offense and their execution is superior over the Rest of the league, they got it wrapped up " Jeff Gordon, Winston Cup Driver " Yeah the Galaxy is Huge, Doesn't he drive for Ford or something? " John Madden, MNF Announcer " That Ruiz would make a good fullback, he can eat pork chops and potato salad liKe 495 pound Larry Allen.. see here, i'll telestrate it for you. and can Ruiz tailgate, boy can he. Oh yeah the LA Galaxy will win the Championship, and dont forget ACE Hardware. " Finally Sir Alex Furgeson, Manager of Manchester United " Yeah the Los Angeles Galaxy are playing Brilliantly.. Totally organized futbol.. there defense is stellar... I look for Sigi Schmid to make the move to a club here in the Barclaycard Premiere League. And if i had a player the caliber of Carlos Ruiz.. we might be averaging more than 1 goal a game. " GO GALAXY !!!!!!!
What a difficult game we have ahead of us. No EZ, no Lalas, where's the defense gonna come from?Having Califf back will definitely help, but I don't see him and Tyrone making it happen by themselves. Assuming we continue our 3-4-3 formation, I wouldn't be surprised w/a lineup consisting of Albright/Mullan, Ruiz, and Jones up top, Elliott, Sasha, Cien, and Pete in the middle, a backline of Tyrone, Califf and Waibel, and of course, Hartman at GK. I see that as Sigi's choice for the match should we stay with the same formation. I think we can do well in the match seeing as SJ is hurting on the D right now. Still, ours is hurting as well, and I feel that we need to maintain consistent offensive pressure throughout the game in order to minimize the pressure on our makeshift backline. Comments?
Don't forget we have the Hex to go against as well. I think we have a better chance of beating them at Spartan than at the Rose Bowl. Either way, here's to an LA sweep.
Ariel Graziani is sitting on 21 caution points. How much goading do you thing it would take at the RB for him to pull a yellow and be unavailable to the Josers on the return match?
won't need to, first time he gets in the G box he'll trip over the chalk line and the ref will book him for diving. Speaking of which, anyone know who the ref'll be on Saturday?
Man, thinking about this game without EZ and Lexi gives me a headache. Graziani is a crafty forward who creates alot of opportunities without much service. Can Califf keep him away from the ball without getting a couple of yellows waved in his face? Then you have to think about Landon dancing around waiting to pounce on anything that comes his direction via a deflection or a decent cross. In a way, I guess it is OK that EZ is out, because he seems to never figure out where Landon is headed next (watch last year's cup or the games up in SJ this season). Can we play as physically as we did in Chicago and get away with it? I guess that depends on who is wearing the stripes! From my viewpoint this is also going to have an impact on our midfield since Tyrone will likely have to stay home and watch the counter attack. I hope that Mauricio and Cobi are ready for a "career" type game. This one could be very tough to win, even in the Rose Bowl. You may hear me yelling all the way from Texas on this one.
I am pumped. We have to stay hot goinmg into the playoffs, and home fieldall the way through would go a LONG way towards our goal of freakin' winniing it all this year. Who thought we had a chance to win the Cup after the first 10 games or so this year? Not I.
I'm up late...well REAL late...a little past 4 in the morning here, trying to catch up on some work..Is there a radio webcast for this match anywhere?
LA changed their radio station this year to ESPN, hence no web-cast. Last year yes, this year no. Ask me how pissed I am about that living in Idaho.
damn what about the Quakes? have they got a webcast somewhere? gee..at least a text tracker somewhere...
Unfortunately, the Quakes haven't had a radio broadcast for years, and thus far they've never had a webcast.       Their website sometimes has a Match Tracker for untelevised games, although today's game will be televised on KICU Channel 36 (in the Bay Area) - hence, no Match Tracker for today. -G
It's not like the match tracker ever works or anything though... You guys have it on the radio. Someone needs to do the play-by-play.
Maybe I'm just brainfried from working all day, but on TV the crowd looks huge. Is there some special promotion tonight or are my eyes playing tricks on more, or are the fans really coming out for the big showdown?
There was a WUSA exhibition between the Philadelphia Charge and San Diego Spirit which preceded this game. Does anyone have a score of that one? We do have Charge fans on BigSoccer who are interested at how it turned out. Thanks. Paul Hanlin Jr Co-mod, Charge forum
