Well it's time for a SFU thread, seeing as in how the new season starts this Sunday at 9pm. Lots of rumors, supposedly something shocking is supposed to occur in the first ep and it regards Nathan.
I thought it was Mar. 9th! Just looked on HBO.com, though, and you are correct. It's like finding out Christmas got moved up to Dec. 18th! Just read a spoiler, and I'm not sure I like the fact that Brenda doesn't appear until the 5th episode. According to Sixfeetunderfan.com: The show's creator, Alan Ball, told me it was his idea. "We wanted Lili Taylor's character to get solidified in the show. Then Brenda comes back, and we'll see what happens and how that affects everyone." As for the "disturbing" surprise beginning, if it's as disturbing as a show beginning last season where a baby dies of SIDS, it shouldn't disappoint. I couldn't get that show out of my head for a week... Apparently Kathy Bates will show up in week 2, and Catherine O'Hara supposedly will have a "hilarious" recurring role. Also, it looks like this season will be at least three months long. Last year's eight-episode season left me wanting... Guesses for that first episode? Maybe Nate goes into a coma. I can see that dragging on for a few weeks...
I'll say. I thought the opening was great. And I can't wait for Brenda to come back and screw things up.
SPOILER SPOILER When the placard actually showed he died, I screamed at my television. It takes a lot for something not hockey- or soccer-related for me to do that. And yeah, Brenda is gonna be brilliant in this. My guess: Lili Taylor dies this season. RS
STILL SPOILING ****************************** ****************************** ****************************** ****************************** ****************************** ****************************** My reaction wasn't nearly as vocal but I hear you. When he had that one flashback during the surgery, I thought, "Nah, they won't kill him. Not yet anyway." And then, the voices started to echo and that white screen showed up. The girl I was watching with and I just looked at each other, mouths wide open. For a minute, we thought Nate will appear as a ghost for the rest of the series. Then we figured out that he was just dreaming (I loved the white trash Nate, btw) but then, after he opened the coffin, the white screen came up again and it paused for half a second before "2002" was erased, I thought, "no, not again." I usually hate it when movies and TV shows pull stunts like that, but it was well done, I thought. I agree with you about Lili Taylor. She and Nate aren't going to last and there's only one way characters go away on Six Feet Under. **************************** ****************************
I was somewhat let down... I liked the first half then felt it went a little downhill after that. Francis Conroy does a great job though... I actually felt bad for her when he was walking in the park with the look of loneliness. I've got this gut feeling that it won't be Lisa that dies, but rather the baby. He's become so wrapped up in it and now it means everything to him that having the baby die would really fark with him.
I agree, after having watched several episode from Season 2 here and there, and re-watching Season 1 on DVD this past week, something was lacking. I wasn't as emotionally involved as I had been in the past. I am optomistic for the return of Brenda so that the pot gets stirred a bit.
I was a little disappointed in the second half too. On reflection I think they are trying to set up all the stories for the season in this opening episode. Catherine O'Hara will probably cause Nate to flip out as he won't last in this suburban wonderland he is in right now. I liked the Clare storyline though.
Same here. Big crocodile tears welled up in my eyes, and I watched the next few scenes holding my breath and thinking "they couldn't possibly have killed him off...". Glad they didn't. I can't remember the last time I had that reaction to a TV show. The marriage thing is a bit of a bombshell, but coming to grips with your mortality can put things in perspective for people, so it's understandable. Brenda will not be a happy camper. Any word on Eric Balfour coming back? I thought it was interesting last season that they made a big deal of David's dating a public defender (he WAS a public defender, wasn't he?), meanwhile Gabe's robbery and possible murder charges are still up in the air.
Wow, that was a disappointing ep. It's was just so.... boring. I don't know, things aren't looking so good for this season. I sure hope it gets better.
Well, I enjoyed it, though not overwhelmed. I get the feeling that they're still setting things up for the rest of the season. I did like: - Kathy Bates. I thought she worked well with Ruth. - Frederico. They're doing more with his character now. Did not like: - Catherine O'Hara. She's getting annoying but it does look like something is happening between her and Lisa next week. - Claire's musician "boyfriend". Aren't all her boyfriends all the same really? I get it - she has issues with the opposite sex but I'd like to see her character grow more.
I was really waiting for a brawl to break out between the families of the two dead people. That didn't happen unfortunately, and honestly, nothing else really did either.
Kathy Bates is certainly the best addition to the show this season. She's hilarious and adding a new dimension. Claire did at least stand up to her boyfriend. I thought it was really odd to see Nate jacking off before coming home, wtf? That relationship is doomed. Poor guy can't even watch the TV in peace.
That was standing up to him? "I didn't mean to give the impression we were exclusive." "Oh." "Are you mad? Should I leave?" "Um, no." "Wanna go up to your bedroom?" "Sure." Yup, she sure told him off.
Well this last ep was a little more bearable, at least it will keep me in the game for one more week. Hopefully with the return of Brenda things will get more interesting.
Where the hell is Brenda???? her psycho brother.... well family for that matter was total genius..... this season has yet to live up to the greatness of the past two IMHO~~~~ phishy
Got caught up last night, thanks. And I'm glad she dumped him, but she does have a replacement lined up already...
... who's *wink wink* gay *nudge nudge*. Brenda should be coming back in the next couple of episodes. Oh, the fun that will be had!
Is it just me or does anyone else think that the past couple of week's episodes have been far too happy? I wonder what big thing will hit and cause the mood to go back to what it has been like in the past. Also, Brenda was in the previews for next weeks show with a surprise annoncement to Nate. Can't wait. Brenda's dynamic is missing.
