Well they had $ from selling Kun and Forlan but supposedly a middle person actually bought Falcao's transfer rights and they are maybe only paying his wages. Weird deal but a great addition to La Liga at the end of the summer transfer window. Or did you mean the singer?
Well this paints a pretty bad picture, after they unsurprisingly lost to LA Galaxy: http://espn.go.com/sports/soccer/ne...ccer-new-york-red-bulls-sunk-team-dysfunction

Re: Update: FIFA Club World Cup I watched that Al Saad match out of curiosity and I must say, they were very lucky to win, they were outplayed by their opponents but Sim Woo-Yeon scored a very unfortunate own goal, Eninho's goal was a very well taken free kick just outside the penalty box... Re: Update: FIFA Club World Cup I wasn't able to watch the game so I'll bow to your saying that Jeonbuk outplayed their opposition. But on the surface a team that is hosting a one off final in front of their own supporters, scores an own goal, requires a goal two minutes into injury time to send the game into extra time and finally has two of their spot kicks saved (the second one brilliantly) doesn't deserve to lift the trophy.
Re: Update: FIFA Club World Cup Agree. And 1 game final where one team gets to play at home = mickey mouse.
Le sexy football!! [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ary4zNZu-8"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ary4zNZu-8[/ame]
So Atlético were a man up and a goal up against Getafe and somehow they are now trailing 1-2. If Atlético end up losing the match I suspect Manzano's time at Atlético will come to an end and Aragonés to make a comeback to coaching!
Atleti equalized then quickly fell back again 3-2. I hope Aragones comes back and rules them with an iron fist; it's their best chance to not get run over in the other Madrid derby again. Probably still not enough. Final: Getafe (with 10 men for 60 minutes) 3-2 Atletico Madrid
^^^ Classic Jekyll and Hyde week for Atleti, crushing the Serie leaders Udinese 4-0 then letting 10-man La Liga bottom feeders Getafe pull a comeback on them. In other news... Bojan with a nice goal to save Luis Enrique's hide for one more week at Roma: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ax7reQZKyuY"]Tercer gol de Bojan Krkic con la Roma (Novara 0 - Roma 2) - YouTube[/ame] Don't miss the bit at the end: Bojan's "Mi piace" (I like it.)

Re: Update: FIFA Club World Cup Congrats to Espérance ST of Tunisia on winning the CAF (African) Champions League. Harrison Afful's goal in the 21st minute was enough to defeat Morocco's Wydad AC 1-0 in Tunis following last week's goalless draw in Casablanca. J-League resumes next weekend with three rounds still to play: 1. Kashiwa Reysol ...... 65 ... +20 2. Gamba Osaka ....... 63 ... +24 3. Nagoya Grampus ... 62 ... +26 2011 FIFA Club World Cup OFC: Auckland City FC (New Zealand) CONCACAF: CF Monterrey (Mexico) UEFA: FC Barcelona (Spain) CONMEBOL: Santos FC (Brazil) AFC: Al-Sadd (Qatar) CAF: Espérance ST (Tunisia) J-League: (3 December)
Re: Update: FIFA Club World Cup Is this a new thing, the J-League champs getting a direct berth in the CWC? Seems a bit unfair to, you know, the rest of the world... It's not even like adding the J-League team evens out the number of competitors, since now it looks like 7.
Re: Update: FIFA Club World Cup Host country has been awarded a representive since the 2007 tournament. In both 2007 and 2008 since the Asian champion came from the host country (Japan) the AFC spot was awarded to the AFC CL runner-up (to avoid a country having two teams in the tournament). 2009 and 2010 each had the UAE league champion participate in the CWC (Al-Ahli and Al-Wahda, respectively).
Re: Update: FIFA Club World Cup Well it is unfair, but I guess the tourney wasn't generating enough money without the hosts involved. I would also point-out that Santos and Barca getting byes to the 3rd round is highly unfair, but this is just a cash grab for FIFA. Not intended to be fair.
Re: Update: FIFA Club World Cup The calendar is more of a reason why the tournament isn't "fair" than anything else. There's simply not enough room for the tournament to last longer than two weeks given when each confederation plays its final. Barcelona had a tough enough time trying to reschedule the two domestic games they were due to play between December 13-18.
Big game (as in meaningful, results not yet a given) is Portugal hosting Bosnia with a 0-0 deadlock in the first game. Portugal heavily favored but 1 away goal from Bosnia would certainly make things interesting. 10 Eastern, 1 PST. The other 3 Euro 2012 qualifiers are mostly done deals unless Montenegro can scratch back to at home hosting Czech Rep. Croatia and Ireland are both at home with 3 and 4 goal leads so those legs seem well and truly over. In WC qualifiers I guess the big question is whether Argentina can get some mojo back playing at Colombia. Also will Alexis Sanchez play as Chile host Paraguay. Finally, USA USA USA up 3-1 in Slovenia for a friendly at HT. Buddle, Dempsey and Altidore (PK).
Argentina losing again at halftime. 1-nil to Colombia. Argentina is lucky that 6 South American teams will qualify for the next World Cup. If it was 4 or 5, like in the past, they would be in serious trouble. Uruguay wins 1-nil in Italy in a friendly. Best team in CONMEBOL now clearly. Could we see a repeat of the 1950 World cup final 3 years from now??
Colombia are more athletic and certainly look more dangerous. Also...Spain is losing 2-0 to Costa Rica at halftime.
