Here are the changes that should be made to the top of the page: Redundant links removed. Media link removed. "My Forums" added as a static link.
Still, there. Called "Forum Lists." Yes, and thanks for the reminder - I will do that. Those who have accounts do. I'd like to understand the reasoning behind that. I could be there are a hell of a lot of "guests." If that is the case, then the trending threads should be only for non-registered users. I think what you are looking for is for posts you are typing. If so, it is there, you just need to select "More Options" or "Preview." It is the refresh page-looking symbol on the upper right of your text box.
Oy gevalt. That header on the website on my PC is just way too obtrusive. 20% of the screen is being dominated by it. I like hiding the fact that I'm on this site when I'm at work dicking around, not shouting about it.
Actually, I suggest going at this another way. I don't think the text is too light. I think the background is too dark. For the sigs, I'd try: - Lighten the background - Reduce the padding
For the love of everything that's Holy, bring back the link list below the posts. The idea that I need to scroll back up to the top of the page just to get back to the forum I came from is just ridiculous tbh. It really is kind of a deal breaker for me. When I've scrolled my way down through the posts I am more likely to use a bookmark or my browser search bar to go somewhere else than I am scrolling back up to stay at this site. Hitting the "back" button might be something I'd do on an Android device but for PC usage that just isn't acceptable. Also I think you need to re-think the double stickyed menu bars at the top. For modern PC screens widescreen has to be the norm and thus the one place you don't want to loose space is vertically, having to read discussions in the "one post - one scroll - one post - one scroll" way is annoying as hell. The stuff on the right I have no need for but it doesn't really disturb me either. Well more than it annoys me that space has been used for that when the top bars are still there...
@Janet H - I might suggesting looking at this on monitor which is not 24 or 30 inches (or larger). Perhaps on a laptop, even, It has a very different feel, and regarding the viewing at work comment, that is kinda important to many and a lot still have 18 inch monitors.
Oh, and another thing, this one a bit trivial, but the phone for the Customer Service forum...a phone for an internet forum?
Playing around with the Media function and you can select a forum which to randomly throw media into, but it's mostly individual team forums. Still not quite sure what it's supposed to do. Also, under Blog it shows Watched Forums, Watched Threads, New Posts, Recent Activity, and Authors. One other issue, when you hover over a link with a drop down menu, the menu doesn't disappear until you click outside of the menu.
Clicked on the button that said "Reply to Thread" and now the page is in limbo. I'm getting the scrolling three lines in the top right of my screen like it's thinking. Should probably get rid of that altogether since if you're going to reply, it's at the bottom of the page.
I second this sentiment. As far as I'm concerned, you can move the top line to the bottom; you don't need it in both places.
Another problem ... The liked post listing box is intrusively large and overbearing. Again: understatement is better. Lighten the background, reduce the padding, make the whole thing more easily overlooked. -- Or to summarize a great number of comments and suggestions here: this is a discussion board. Anything that interferes with or distracts from discussion is not just useless, but counterproductive.
Crazy amount of wasted space on mobile. I have to scroll for my primary use cases, breaking the first commandment of experience design.
I haven't looked at it on my computer yet, just using Tapatalk right now, but I have one question: Was this a version upgrade or a migration to new software? And if the latter, what were the primary motivations/goals in doing so?
