Seriously, no SAF, I have always seen SAF in charge, this is a shock and I am quite critical of him. So what next Moyes ? Hope not.

    Wow.

This came like a lightning strike out of the blue.

The legend will be missed, the ability he showcased to rebuild his team multiple times, especially the past decade, was awesome (Turning Ronaldo into the player he is, having Tevez and Rooney, a defense with rio/vidic/evra in his prime..)

    He will be missed.

PS: Think he'll leave a wine bottle in the manager room for Mourinho when he comes on board?:D

I know that no man is bigger than the club, but I'm only 26. He is the club as far as I have ever known. I am stunned.

Massive respect for what he has done and there won't be another like him.

I would hate to be the manager replacing him, the only one I think who has the balls or the ego to not fell the pressure to it's full extent would be Mourinho. Klopp and Moyes, while great young managers, it would be a very tough task for them to replace him.

If its Moyes, it would be a repeat of Ronaldo and Valencia.

    Edit:
We may just buy Fellaini so we can play Moyes version of head tennis.

So much respect for the man. It's very hard to imagine his achievements being matched or bettered in my lifetime, and I intend to live for hundreds of years. That he's been so careful to get his retirement right speaks highly for how much he cares for the club he helped build into a modern powerhouse.

I'm praying for someone like Klopp to come in, and for Sir Alex to offer advice or to allow him to focus on the footballing side of things. Dortmund are clearly going to be picked apart this summer - if I was Klopp I'd want to be at a club that can afford to sign more than one of the departing stars.

SAF recommendation is apparently Moyes, cut from the same cloth stability blah blah, even Sky has him in pole position.
    We are done.

Pivotal day for our future, this.

I'm sure we've already got everything in place - I hope we go in the right direction with who comes in.

Got the shivers; feels like bereavement that the great man is actually retiring.

ridiculous appraisal of Moyes. He could do great things with United's resources. Anyway, this thread should just be about SAF.

    Agreed.

Stunned, shocked. Echo DS in that this feels like a bereavement. I have growth up with Fergie at the club. End of an era.

This is planned, he has chosen this time and place to retire. He and the club must have a plan in place.

I am still unable to process this.

Like most, I have never known the club without Fergie.
