Lazio officials have confirmed that Diego Pablo Simeone has extended his contract with a Roman club for two more years, thus lasting until June 30, 2005. Argentinian midfielder will subsequently earn 5 mil euros for this period of time. Simeone is one of the few non-italian players who has accepted the new conditions imposed by the club.

Il Cholo arrived to Lazio in 1999 from Inter and has previously played for Atletico Madrid and has turned out to be the player with most shares in the club after an economical deal was struck by the management and the majority of the players.

Simeone will be 35 after the new contract with Lazio expires and the roman club will probably be his last experience as a proffesional player.

Simeone's a good soldier, real heart and soul player....glad he will stick around.

Still prefer Giannichedda in the central role against better teams...
